The Milwaukeeoffice of SmithGroupis looking for aMedical Plannerto join our team.

Working with us, you will:



  • Lead the space programming and dental equipment planning efforts for dental education and clinics.
  • Conduct analyses of dental education facility needs and develop solutions involving construction of new facilities and major renovations of existing facilities.
  • Meet with and facilitate meetings with clients/users to develop or validate program requirements for dental education leading them through the design process.
  • Work with the design lead to contribute to the planning concepts and detail building systems and components, from concept phase through construction documents.
  • Lead documentation of dental systems such as casework, equipment, and development of operatory spaces, clinics, labs and support spaces to create efficient, forward focused environments.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with designers, project architects, specialty consultants and engineers in the production of drawings and specifications.



An ideal candidate has:



  • A bachelor's degree in Architecture or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 years of architectural experience in the healthcare or higher education health sciences markets.
  • Experience in healthcare or higher education to create interdisciplinary academic and clinical learning environments.
  • Excellent design/ planning ability and the potential to generate a variety of options for the layout of departmental spaces and clinic support facilities.
  • Architectural Registration and LEED AP preferred.
  • High proficiency with graphic programs, such as Revit, SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Excel, PowerPoint and PowerBI.
  • The ability to travel locally, nationally & internationally up to 30%.
