Job Description

SUMMARY

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to join our Global Engineering Extrusion Innovation team. This individual will have direct ownership of large and small projects globally and will have the opportunity to make a significant impact for Sealed Air. Successful candidates will be highly motivated, detail-oriented, excellent communicators, and able to embrace innovative ideas. As a member of this team, you will design and develop new equipment for SEE's internal extrusion process platforms. This role will enable you to drive equipment development projects through all stages of the process: project conceptualization, planning, design, manufacturing, in-house testing, documentation, and support.

RESPONSIBILITIES

In this role you will be responsible for identifying & implementing new technologies, in support of the company's plastics extrusion network to improve automation, rate, yield, safety, quality, service and cost metrics. The Senior Mechanical Project Engineer will work independently and with a team to develop and implement automated/touchless manufacturing solutions and work on identified Transformation Projects within our supply chain organization. This individual must be able to develop, execute, and manage projects to include partnering with technicians, process engineers, scientists, and manufacturing personnel to ensure not only the project but also the company's success. This candidate should be comfortable using their creative and technical background to develop feasible solutions to problems where a known solution may not exist. This is a growth position that can lead to even greater opportunities in the future.

Primary responsibilities of the team include the following:

* Leads the development, testing, and implementation of new equipment supporting Sealed Air's Touchless Automation/digitalization initiative.

* Apply strong technical skills to all facets of projects to include budgeting, planning and solution development, equipment specification, design, and startup, while coordinating with internal stakeholders, external suppliers, and contractors to complete projects on time and within budget.

* Provide technical leadership throughout development and effectively interface with internal and external customers

* Develop automation solutions to optimize plant floor operations including process and material flow.

* Identify/evaluate new technologies that can be incorporated into the existing processes to improve yield, increase throughput, and/or reduce cost.

* Create and review 3D CAD designs and 2D drawings

* Conduct hands-on testing of prototype equipment

* Other assignments as required.

Qualifications

* Minimum B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent from ABET accredited university

* Minimum 3+ years of relevant product or equipment design and development experience

* Demonstrated ability to meet technical challenges with creative and innovative solutions

* Demonstrated ability to take projects from the concept stage all the way through commissioning and hand-off

* Exceptional problem solving and mechanical design abilities (particularly industrial equipment design)

* Proficiency in 3D CAD Design (SolidWorks experience preferred) and SolidWorks PDM

* Experience with industrial pneumatics systems design is a plus

* Experience and familiarity with controls/automation systems is a plus

* Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team, generating results with general/minimal guidance from management

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills

* Strong interpersonal skills and a work ethic that corresponds with SEE's core values

* Ability and willingness to travel is required up to 20%.

* Work experience in manufacturing of plastic packaging is a strong plus

* Proficient with Microsoft Office products
