The Peer Support Specialist works in partnership with the Program Manager to support clients within the HSASMI (Housing with Supports for Adults with Serious Mental Illness) Program. The Peer Support Specialist models wellness, offers hope, provides encouragement, and empowers clients to make positive steps in their recovery. The Peer Support Specialist will serve as a supportive mentor to the client and an engaged team member within the Housing Department.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • The Peer Support Specialist will meet with clients referred by the Program Manager to work on goals identified by the client. Some activities might include attending appointments, researching and visiting community resources, and brainstorming solutions to problems.
  • The Peer Support Specialist will utilize the Critical Time Intervention model in working on goal plans.


Qualifications & Requirements:



  • Successfully complete the DHS Certified Peer Specialist training and certification exam. Training and exam can be paid for by LSS and completed after hire. The certification process must be completed within 2 months of hire.
  • Be at least 21 years or older.
  • Have a high school diploma of GED.
  • Have lived experience with Mental Illness.
