GENERAL FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Executive Director and in accordance with Association policies, the Fitness Director is responsible for the planning, development, supervision and administration of all fitness and wellness programming at the branch, as well as, staffing and quality of local corporate wellness fitness classes. The Fitness Director will oversee the development and implementation of innovative curriculum and activities, supervise, develop, coach and train staff to ensure that participant's development occurs in a fun, healthy and safe environment, and ensure program outcomes are consistently achieved. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Must have a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent of education, certifications and experience with a minimum of 2 years of successful group exercise program development and fitness center experience that includes staff management. Personal training certification or successful development of program is preferred. Candidate should have a positive history of leadership in the areas of staff, volunteer and program development, fiscal budgeting and management and operational procedures as well as good written and verbal communication skills. Additional skills include the ability to motivate a diverse population that includes all fitness levels. Supervisory Responsibilities Directly supervises employees in accordance with the organization's policies, mission, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; and addressing and resolving issues. WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to demonstrate and lead a wide variety of exercise classes and moves, coach and assist members on equipment, conduct wellness orientations, stand, walk, bend, reach and lift for extended periods of time.
