St. Paul Academy and Summit School (SPA) is a coeducational, non-sectarian, college preparatory day school serving more than 920 students in kindergarten through grade 12. Our two campuses are located approximately a mile apart in St. Paul, Minnesota, serving Grades K-5 on our Goodrich Campus and Grades 6-12 on our Randolph Campus. The school draws students from St. Paul, Minneapolis, and throughout the eastern and western suburbs.

The Upper School is home to students in Grades 9-12 and is characterized by advanced inquiry, lively discussion, deep engagement with topics, a strong sense of community, and a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Job Description:

This is an exceptional opportunity for any teacher-journalist looking to help grow and support a nationally recognized, award-winning student publications program which includes The Rubicon (our printed newspaper), RubicOnline (our online newspaper), Iris: Art + Lit, and Ibid Yearbook.

This is an hourly .25 position open to applicants with the expertise and acumen to support student journalists and our student journalism programs effectively and thoughtfully. The position begins in September of 2024.

Ideal candidates should possess or be on track to earn a Bachelor's degree in Journalism or a related field (ie. Communications, English with a Journalism/Student Publications focus), and be a quick adopter of new programs, including productivity software, Adobe CS, and WordPress. The ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines is required. The ideal candidate will have experience with project-based learning and demonstrated enthusiasm for course development and modification. Additionally, the Publications Assistant is expected to chaperone student trips and attend training at the Minnesota High School Press Association and a National Convention in the spring.

As importantly, we seek a candidate who has a demonstrated passion for working with young people. Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
