Job Summary

Collaboration, Justice, Stewardship, and Excellence. The mental health clinician conducts individual and
family therapy sessions, completes psychosocial assessments, facilitates psychotherapy groups, and
coordinates the case management needs in accordance with the philosophy and policies of the Board of Behavioral Sciences standards for practice. Works cooperatively as part of the multi-disciplinary team.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $32.09 - $68.87 (Hourly Rate).

Department Description

St. Mary's Medical Center and associated outpatient clinics are now part of UCSF Health. This addition
give us the opportunity to offer primary and secondary care in more places and increases UCSF Health's
ability to care for patients with complex medical needs. Combining community care with academic
medicine makes convenient, comprehensive care easier to access for all our patients.

laboratory, innovative orthopedic and spine care, state-of-the-art cancer center, and

Required Qualifications


  • Experience Must have demonstrated effective interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a stressful environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to educate and motivate staff to improve skills.
  • Must possess a strong theoretical base in developmental systemic and cognitive-behavioral therapy.
  • Masters Degree from an accredited college or university in social work psychology nursing human development or other related health field.
  • Relevant post-graduate education (18 months/27 units) from an accredited college or university may be substituted if the curriculum is comparable (developmental theory psychopathology clinical theory.)
  • Licensure Must have a current BLS for the health care provider certification.
  • Certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Special Skills Must have leadership ability and good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical ability and flexibility to participate in physical restraint of patients.
  • An ability to read write speak and understand the English language without difficulty.
  • Training Aggression management training.
  • Complete annual safety training.
  • Complete and maintain department specific training

Preferred Qualifications


  • Bilingual in one or more of the following languages: Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Cambodian, Tagalog or Vietnamese.

License/Certification


  • Current BLS for the health care provider certification.
  • Certifications must be issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).
