Position Title:Airfield Electrician Lead

Job Summary:

The Airfield Electrician Lead oversees and schedules all installation, maintenance, modification, overhaul, service, and repair of airfield electrical systems and equipment. Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Ensure that the work is in accordance with relevant codes. May install or service intercom systems or electrical control systems. The Airfield Electrician Lead reports directly to the Electrical Supervisor/Foreman.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the preparation and organization of field sites, including setting up temporary power systems and office trailers.
  • Handle personnel management for field staff, including tracking daily timesheets, evaluating performance, and managing attendance and leave.
  • Ensure the airfield's as-built documentation is regularly updated and accurate.
  • Conduct safety meetings and project briefings to maintain compliance with site protocols.
  • Carry out electrical tasks using manual tools, such as wire splicing, insulating, and creating waterproof connections.
  • Install electrical components like plugs, switches, and lighting systems, ensuring proper connections.
  • Test electrical systems to confirm continuity and safety using diagnostic tools.
  • Work in tight spaces to install and repair electrical systems i.e., manholes and vaults.
  • Apply lockout/tag-out procedures for safety in high-voltage areas.
  • Safely manage operations near live high-voltage circuits and equipment.
  • Assess and supervise electrical equipment to guarantee performance and adherence to safety standards of the National Electrical Code and/or British Standards where applicable.
  • Measure and manipulate electrical conduit, employing both hand tools and machinery for cutting, bending, and installation.
  • Route wires through conduits as per project specifications.
  • Supervise and direct junior electricians, apprentices, and helpers, delegating tasks appropriately.
  • Conducts training sessions for staff on the correct procedures and techniques required for electrician tasks.
  • Operates in environments with elevated noise levels from jet aircraft and construction machinery.
  • Oversees, trains, and guides U.S./Foreign National and Local National personnel.
  • Performs additional responsibilities as assigned by management.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of five (5) years of electrical experience in constructing and maintaining facility electrical and/or airfield systems.
  • Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of applicable National Electrical Code (NEC) and/or British Standard (BS 7671) and other codes required codes.
  • Two (2) years in a lead or supervisory role, focusing on airfield electrical applications.
  • Ability to pass background checks as per airport security regulations is required.
  • Ability to interpret and apply blueprints, schematics, maintenance manuals, and assembly instructions is required.
  • Competence in performing mathematical computations for electrical load calculations is required.
  • Must have good communication skills to communicate with Airfield Control Tower.
  • Must be proficient in operating, maintaining, and troubleshooting a Modular Integrated Mobile Power System (MIMPS), part number 2335111122: Input/output 400-230 VAC, 3-phase, 50Hz; Critical Load Output 208/120 VAC, 3-Phase, 50Hz. The manufacturer is Tactical Power Systems Corporation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician License (or higher) is preferred or proof of training/competency or certificate of completion from the Electrical Apprenticeship program.
  • The Airfield Electrician ADB/Siemens AF lighting Training preferred
  • Experience with military operations or AFCAP/LOGCAP is preferred.
  • The Airfield Electrician must have ADB/Siemens AF lighting Training preferred.

Physical Requirements and Work Conditions:

  • Physical requirements may include lifting objects up to 35 lbs., team lifting of items up to 50 lbs., climbing, extended time sitting, standing, stooping, stretching, or bending.
  • Individuals must be able to sit and concentrate for extended durations.
