Job Summary

Involves the supervision of staff and operations to provide technical and support activities for anesthesia, clinical support and / or operating room services. Ensures machinery, equipment and supplies are calibrated, maintained and delivered to units efficiently. Develops and implements operational and service standards in accordance with internal policy and external regulations.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications


  • Four (4) years of experience in a Operating Room Environment
  • Interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with others throughout the organization. Maintains cooperative working relationships with professional and administrative staff, peers, multidisciplinary team members and management.
  • Ability to solve problems and suggest solutions through critical thinking process.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills to explain technical anesthesia concepts, actively listen, persuade, advise, and counsel.
  • Ability to perform all commonly applicable functions in word processing and spreadsheet software. Solid knowledge of organization's anesthesia documentation application programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines in a complex, challenging environment.
  • Solid customer service and diplomacy skills to resolve escalated issues in an effective manner.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a Lead or Supervisory role
  • Experience with Bargaining unit agreements and Labor Relations
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Experience with Inventory control management
  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.

Preferred Qualifications

Cer.A.T. certification from the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists and Technicians (ASATT) preferred.

License/Certification

Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
