Application Window Open date: March 14, 2024 Next review date: Saturday, Mar 1, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Saturday, Mar 1, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description The Department of Art at UCLA is creating a pool of applicants for potential temporary part-time teaching positions, in various variable topics/proposal-based courses in the department for the 2024-25 academic year. These courses include: Art 132 Undergraduate Survey of Critical Thought: Overview of premodern, modern, and postmodern theory as reflected in critical writing and artistic frameworks from late 19th century to present. Introduction to elements of Marxism, critical theory, feminist and queer theory, indigenous critique, disability studies, black radical tradition, decolonial and postcolonial writings; Art 276 Graduate Group Critique: Critique discussions of student work within an open group setting. Alternatively facilitated and lead by senate faculty and visiting artists, curators, cultural critics and other contemporary thinkers in the Los Angeles and broader art community; Art C280 Graduate Seminar: Advanced topics in critical theory and study of contemporary art, with emphasis on individuals, issues, and methodologies. Possible areas of study from structuralism, deconstruction, feminist and psychoanalytic theory, commodification, and censorship. Specific topics may vary. Salary: Rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
