The Maintenance Team here at Rogers Behavioral Health in West Allis, WI is excited to announce an opportunity to join our team as a Maintenance Technician.

Our Maintenance Technicians are responsible for the servicing of all facility buildings, general and advanced maintenance and repairs, general grounds maintenance and overall plant safety (approximately 80% of job duties). Responsible for the cleanliness and appearance of facility and grounds (approximately 20% of job duties).

Schedule: Full-time, benefits eligible role. Monday-Friday 7:00am to 3:30pm. Rotating on call and weekends.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

Building and Facilities Inspection and Compliance

  • Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair making notes and recommendations using a pre-established check sheet to meet Joint Commission standards.
  • Assist in physical plant and equipment safety inspections.
  • Order parts and maintain required documents per regulatory compliance.
  • Adheres to Rogers Memorial Hospital policies, procedures, all safety plans, and all standards imposed by regulatory organizations.

Building, Facility and Equipment Maintenance

  • Maintain and repair all grounds-keeping equipment.
  • Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not be limited to replacement or repair of fixtures (e.g. wall switches and outlets, incandescent and fluorescent bulbs and tubes, ballast, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
  • Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g. replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.).
  • Performs maintenance, repairs and basic troubleshooting on all heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work (e.g. preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.).
  • Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular offices and space (e.g. furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, lighting, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate user needs and maximize office space using various hand, power and specialty tools, dollies and hand trucks.
  • Prepares the surfaces and paints various structures and equipment (e.g. walls, refrigerators, evaporative coolers, floors, roofs, doors, restroom facilities, etc.) to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using various painting equipment and related tools (e.g. sprayers, rollers, brushes, thinners, etc.).
  • Maintain and operate emergency electrical generator.
  • Maintain, operate, and repair boilers and furnaces in all buildings.
  • Maintain and monitor operation of septic tanks and well system (domestic water supply), as appropriate.

Ground Maintenances

  • Performs all aspects of snow removal (including shoveling, salting, plowing, and snow blowing).
  • Perform general grounds-keeping functions, which include the creation of gardens, planting and maintenance of trees and other foliage.

Multidisciplinary functions

  • Transports patients and families in RMH vehicles, as directed.
  • Assist staff with agitated patients.
  • Assist staff with emergency drills as needed.
  • Provide a high level of customer service to the unit staff and patients.
  • Assist in the training and orientation of staff under the direction of the Environmental Services leadership.
  • Assist in the development and function of multidisciplinary Rogers Improvement System projects.
  • Document completed work as required by using established system.
  • Take personal responsibility to communicate with assigned unit manager or program manager on a daily basis.
  • Work as a member of a team.

Additional Job Description:

Education/Training Requirements:

  • High school diploma preferred; GED required.
  • Advanced vocational or technical education preferred.
  • Previous facilities maintenance experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, electrical, and alarm systems and associated equipment strongly preferred.
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver's License required.
  • Experience in the mental health facilities preferred.
