Job Summary

Under general supervision of the Clinic Manager and guided by the policies and procedures of UCSF Medical Center, Ambulatory Services, and the Department of Ophthalmology, the Orthoptist will provide patient services under direct or indirect ophthalmologist supervision. The Orthoptist will see patients under the supervision of the attending pediatric ophthalmologist and will provide patient care and technical support for pediatric ophthalmology patients, adults with binocular vision problems, eye movement disorders and strabismus, as well as optometry screening clinics.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Please note: The compensation ranges listed online for roles not covered by a bargaining unit agreement are very wide, however a job offer will typically fall in the range of 80% - 120% of the established mid-point. An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree
• Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations

Preferred Qualifications

• Demonstrates proficiency in electronic medical record documentation
• Two (2) years of experience as an Orthoptist in pediatric ophthalmology and/or adult strabismus clinic

License/Certification

• CPR/BLS through AHA
• Orthoptist Certification through The American Orthoptic Council within two years of hire and maintained throughout tenure
