The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

The Department of Neurology is seeking to recruit an experienced Nurse Practitioner to provide medical care to patients on the neurology service under the direction of Laura Lennihan, MD, Chief of Neurology Inpatient Service.

Responsibilities

The Nurse Practitioner will join an established Nurse Practitioner-based Neurohospitalist Service that has supportive colleagues, provides an opportunity to gain clinical expertise, enhance communication skills and promotes autonomous practice.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:




  • Render direct patient care including but not limited to obtaining patients' history, performing comprehensive and targeted physical examinations, ordering and evaluating diagnostic tests, initiating consultations, and diagnosing/managing chronic as well as acute care problems from admission through discharge.



  • Document all patient/caregiver encounters in the outpatient EMR



  • Participate in family meetings, counsel and instruct patients and their caregivers.



  • Participate in daily multidisciplinary team meetings.



  • Position participates with the newly developed Division of Nursing Practice within the Columbia School of Nursing which provides opportunities for professional development, a clinical ladder, committee memberships, and educational and preceptor opportunities if desired.



  • Perform additional duties as needed.




Minimum Qualifications




  • Requires a Master's degree in Nursing or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience.




Preferred Qualifications



  • ACNP or AGACNP preferred as well as a strong background in ICU, ED or neurology nursing. New Graduates are welcome to apply.

  • Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse and Nurse Practitioner licenses.



  • Must have NP Board certification



  • Current BCLS, ACLS, DEA, and NPI certification
