Vaco has partnered with a company looking for MEDICAL BILLERS to join their growing and fast-paced team!

Overview: The Medical Biller plays a vital role in the healthcare revenue cycle by ensuring accurate and timely billing processes, maximizing revenue capture, and facilitating reimbursement from payers. This position requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of medical coding and billing practices, and proficiency in healthcare billing software. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Responsibilities:

  1. Claims Submission and Processing:

    • Generate and submit accurate and timely claims for services rendered to patients, insurance companies, and third-party payers.
    • Verify patient insurance coverage, eligibility, and benefits prior to claim submission, and obtain necessary authorizations as needed.
    • Review claims for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with coding and billing guidelines, resolving any discrepancies or errors before submission.
  2. Medical Coding:

    • Assign appropriate diagnostic and procedure codes to patient encounters based on documentation provided by healthcare providers.
    • Ensure coding accuracy and compliance with current coding guidelines, including ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II codes.
    • Stay abreast of updates and changes in coding regulations, payer policies, and reimbursement methodologies.
  3. Claims Follow-Up and Denial Management:

    • Monitor claim status and follow up on unpaid or denied claims in a timely manner, identifying reasons for denials and taking appropriate corrective actions.
    • Appeal denied claims as necessary, providing additional documentation and supporting evidence to support claim reconsideration and reimbursement.
  4. Payment Posting and Reconciliation:

    • Post payments, adjustments, and refunds accurately to patient accounts, ensuring proper allocation and reconciliation of payments received.
    • Identify and resolve posting discrepancies, including underpayments, overpayments, and payment posting errors.
  5. Patient Billing and Collections:

    • Generate patient statements for outstanding balances, explaining charges, payments, and insurance adjustments in a clear and understandable manner.
    • Contact patients to resolve billing inquiries, answer questions about insurance coverage and billing statements, and facilitate payment arrangements as needed.
    • Coordinate with collection agencies or pursue other avenues for collections on delinquent accounts, adhering to regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
  6. Documentation and Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate and complete billing records, documentation, and audit trails in compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
    • Prepare reports and analysis of billing and collection activities, key performance indicators (KPIs), and revenue cycle metrics for management review.

Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco by Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to:

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;
  • office location and other geographic considerations;
  • other business and organizational needs.

With that said, as required by local law, Vaco by Highspring believes that the following salary range referenced above reasonably estimates the base compensation for an individual hired into this position in geographies that require salary range disclosure. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses.
