The Salvation Army Shelter Aide Safety Net Position Title: Shelter Aide- Emergency Shelter Services Job Summary: Responsible to provide program oversite in supporting the daily management of operational needs and service delivery for individuals accessing emergency shelter services. Conduct new intakes, enter data into the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) and assist in meeting the basic needs to all program participants. Reports To: Safety Net Program Coordinator Supervises: N/A Qualifications: Candidates must have a passion for fulfilling the mission of The Salvation Army and must be articulate in presenting the same to others. Candidates must successfully pass the pre-employment background inquiry and annual motor vehicle check with a valid driver's license. Education:
- Successful candidates seeking to fill this position must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. While some college education is preferred, having at least five years of experience of providing compassionate care and supervision to vulnerable populations is an asset.

- Must be able to work days, evenings, weekends and holidays as necessary. Especially in emergent situations.

- Deliver services to program participants in Safety Net Men's Shelter to include, but not limited to completing and reviewing intake material for accuracy, completing orientation and assessing client needs for individuals entering program.
- Enforce program guidelines, policies, and procedures including deescalating situations and provide conflict resolution techniques with respect and understanding.
- Provide a safe, secure, and compassionate environment for participants to include contacting emergency responders or crisis intervention personnel as needed.
- Oversee facility activities to ensure a smooth delivery of services, effective and safe operations, and coordination of care with case managers and other agency personnel.
- Monitor the perimeter of the facility to ensure a clean and sanitized environment, with full inspection at beginning and end of each shift.
- Document participant information and progress through HMIS and SIMS.
- Record, track and submit statistical information as scheduled to maintain compliance with The Salvation Army and agency grant funding entities.
- Attend conferences, trainings, and regular staff meetings as directed.
- Maintain positive work atmosphere through appropriate conflict management, courteous demeanor, and professional and appropriate communication practices.
- Maintain compliance in The Salvation Army's "Safe from Harm" Certification.
- Perform other duties as assigned as related to Safety Net oversight.
Travel may be required. Position Ranking:

Physical Demands/ Work Environment: This Position is required to do basic business and office work. In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the individual is regularly required to talk and listen, stand, walk, sit and use hands. Individual must be able to regularly lift up to 30 pounds and occasionally lift up to fifty pounds. The use of Office and Computer Equipment is necessary. Vision abilities will require close vision. Work may be performed indoors and occasionally require outdoors to attend meetings. There is low to moderate noise level for this position. The Salvation Army is an equal opportunity employer.
