Summary:
The Director, Finance and Clinical Research Finance is responsible for the overall finance program for the Department of Pediatrics, including clinical finance, clinical research, budget development, and oversight of the finance team. The Director collaborates with staff within the department to provide oversight for all finance functions of the department.

Responsibilities:

  1. Maintains a detailed understanding of finance as it relates to the School of Medicine and Faculty Practice. Collaborates closely with finance partners in the organization to resolve issues and ensure the accuracy of financial results for the department. Generates detailed internal financials and develops budgets and proformas for new programs and initiatives. Provides outstanding customer service for finance-related issues to to department administrative staff, divisions, the department chair, and other physician leaders in the department.

Understands the overall financial performance of the organization and applies financial concepts and practices to establish and maintain realistic budgets. Uses financial information to monitor overall financial status of operations.

Education Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance (or substantial equivalent with concentration in finance).
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
* No licensure or certification required.
Professional Experience Requirements:
* If a Bachelor's degree: Seven (7) years of progressive experience in health care budgeting/finance. Proven experience in managing multiple and complex projects.
* If an Associate's degree: Eleven (11) years of progressive experience in health care budgeting/finance. Proven experience in managing multiple and complex projects.
* If a High School diploma or GED: Fifteen (15) years of progressive experience in health care budgeting/finance. Proven experience in managing multiple and complex projects.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
* Understands and applies principles, procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise.
