Job Summary

At Core & Main, the Sales Operations Specialist serves as a critical link between our customers, outside sales team, and branch operations. This role is responsible for delivering an exceptional customer experience by supporting order execution, coordinating project requirements, resolving customer inquiries, and ensuring operational excellence throughout the sales and fulfillment process.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, customer-focused, and detail-oriented, with a passion for solving problems, supporting team success, and helping customers receive the products and service they need when they need them.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service & Relationship Support

• Serve as a primary point of contact for customers regarding orders, product availability, pricing inquiries, and order status updates.
• Deliver a consistent, professional customer experience through timely communication and issue resolution.
• Research and resolve customer concerns related to shipments, returns, product substitutions, and invoicing.
• Build strong working relationships with customers by providing dependable support and follow-through.

Sales & Order Operations

• Process customer orders accurately and efficiently while ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
• Coordinate with sales, purchasing, warehouse, and transportation teams to fulfill customer requirements.
• Manage project orders and provide ongoing support from quote acceptance through final delivery.
• Monitor order activity and proactively communicate delays, backorders, or potential service disruptions.
• Maintain accurate customer, pricing, and order information within company systems.

Operational Excellence

• Support branch operational goals by ensuring data accuracy, process compliance, and timely execution of customer requests.
• Assist in inventory-related inquiries by collaborating with purchasing and warehouse teams.
• Identify opportunities to improve workflows, customer service processes, and order management efficiency.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on customer satisfaction and operational performance.
• Maintain documentation and records necessary to support branch operations and customer account management.

Team Collaboration

• Partner closely with Outside Sales Representatives to support customer accounts and project opportunities.
• Collaborate with branch leadership, procurement, logistics, and warehouse personnel to ensure seamless execution of customer commitments.
• Contribute to a positive team environment focused on service, accountability, and operational success.

Qualifications

Required

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and business operating systems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred

• Experience in distribution, construction, industrial, waterworks, fire protection, or infrastructure-related industries.
• Experience with ERP systems and order management processes.
• Knowledge of inventory, procurement, logistics, or project coordination functions.

• Demonstrated success working with customers
• Inventory sales/order systems experience
• Prior experience in industrial distribution or construction supply

Pay: $19.23 - $27.48 per hour
