Join our dedicated Addiction Medicine Consult Service as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and make a meaningful impact in the lives of patients affected by substance use disorders. Working within a multidisciplinary inpatient team, you will provide psychosocial support, care coordination, and discharge planning to help patients access treatment, recovery resources, and ongoing community-based support during and after their hospitalization. The Department of Medicine is seeking a dedicated Clinical Social Worker to join our multidisciplinary inpatient Addiction Medicine Consult Service. The Social Worker will be a core member of an interdisciplinary team caring for hospitalized patients with substance use disorders. Working closely with Addiction Medicine physicians, Advanced Practice Providers and peer recovery coaches, the Social Worker will provide psychosocial assessment, counseling, care coordination, resource navigation, discharge planning, and linkage to community-based addiction treatment. The ideal candidate will have prior experience or training in addiction care, behavioral health, medical social work, or a related field and a strong commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered, non-stigmatizing addiction care. The position will report to the Director of Addiction Medicine for clinical responsibilities and the Executive Director of the Medicine Care Center for operational responsibilities. A masters degree in social work from an accredited college or university. Prior experience working with SUD. Formal training or focused experience in addiction treatment, harm reduction, motivational interviewing or behavioral health. Experience in acute-care hospital or other medical setting. Knowledge of medications for substance use disorders and the continuum of addiction treatment. Familiarity with local treatment programs, community resources, harm reduction organizations and systems affecting access to care. Experience with electronic medical record documentation preferred. Current Massachusetts Licensed Independent Clinical Social Work (LICSW) is required. Must be fully vaccinated against seasonal Influenza and the COVID 19 virus or to be exempt from the requirement for medical or personal reasons by signing a statement certifying you are choosing to be exempt from vaccination once hired. Compensation: Pay rate will be determined based on level of experience.
