Principal Project Engineer

The Westinghouse Instrumentation & Control Systems (ICS) business is looking for a Project Engineer to support design and delivery of Distributed Control Systems for greenfield nuclear power plant projects.

As a Principal Project Engineer, you will support the New Plant Control Systems Engineering resource manager and APx Project Managers and will manage one or several technical areas. This is a unique position in that the Principal Project Engineer will act in simultaneous Project Management, Issue Manager and Technical Leadership roles.

You will report to the Control & Information System Engineering manager and work a hybrid role based in Warrendale, PA.

• Lead functional area execution of required scope to support plant objectives.
• Manage schedule and cost performance.
• Maintain an accurate demand signal and coordinate with Resource Managers to align resources with project schedules.
• Assess risks and challenges across the department and develop practical, effective solutions.
• Troubleshoot technical challenges and develop recovery plans.
• Lead contact for Functional Area Leads and APx Project Managers.
• Responsible for discipline representation in the Product Development Review Meeting (PDRM).
• Support the Resource Managers, Project Manager and Technical Lead.

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• AP1000 or AP300 experience is helpful
• Ability to travel internationally as projects require (up to 20% for peak times)
• Demonstrated technical expertise in at least one of the following technical areas:
  
  
  
  • Integrated systems Engineering
  • Control Systems and Setpoints
  • Full Scope Simulators
  • Plant Control Systems including Data and Display Systems
  • Turbine Control and Protection
  • Cyber Security
  • Protection and Safety Monitoring System
  • Product Development - hardware and software
  • Independent Verification & Validation including Test Engineering
  
  
  
  
• Command of responsible subject matter and the product application life cycle and design process for the assigned subject matter area
• Knowledge of project management principles and a desire to work in a newly defined technical project management role.

We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $103,200-129,000 per year
