Pay Range: $27.70 - $34.65 (Additional $1.00 per hour for hours worked between 7:00pm and 11:59pm. Additional $2.00 per hour worked between 12:00am-4:59am) About Foster Farms At Foster Farms, our mission is creating great food and serving great moments. Our vision is to be the best and most trusted food company, empowering and nourishing the lives of those we serve. We measure our success by how well we protect and care for our team, our consumers, our animals, and our environment, while delivering operational excellence and exceptional value to our customers. PURPOSE OF POSITION To serve as an on-site, plant-based member of the IT organization who functions as the "remote hands" and local eyes for the broader, centrally located IT department. Physically embedded at an assigned Foster Farms facility, this position performs the hands-on tasks directed by Corporate IT specialists-Infrastructure, Network, Cybersecurity, Business Systems, and the IT Service Center-so that issues those teams manage remotely can be diagnosed and resolved on the plant floor. The role is deliberately relationship-driven: the technician builds trusted, day-to-day working relationships with plant leadership and the Maintenance team and acts as the two-way liaison between the facility, Operations, and IT. In addition to general end-user support, this position is specifically trained to identify, triage, and help resolve problems on the IT-supported shop-floor manufacturing systems used at the facility (for example, plant-floor and warehouse computers, label and thermal printers, barcode scanners, handheld RF devices, scanning and labeling stations, Manufacturing/Warehouse client applications, and IT-managed floor network connectivity). The role operates within Foster Farms' established Service Center and ticket-management processes and is primarily assigned to a designated plant, with occasional support to nearby facilities as directed by IT Management. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Serve as on-site "remote hands" and eyes for the broader IT department. Perform hands-on tasks directed by Infrastructure, Network, Cybersecurity, Business Systems, and Service Center teams-physical diagnostics, device and part swaps, power-cycles, imaging, cabling and patching at IT-owned panels, staging, and on-floor verification-so remotely managed issues, maintenance, and deployments can be completed at the facility.
- Identify, triage, and help resolve issues on IT-supported shop-floor manufacturing systems, including plant-floor and warehouse computers, label and thermal printers, barcode scanners, handheld RF devices, scanning and labeling stations, Manufacturing/Warehouse client applications, and IT-managed floor connectivity. Coordinate with Plant Maintenance, Plant Engineering, and vendors at the OT/IT boundary.
- Build and maintain trusted working relationships with plant leadership and the Maintenance team. Conduct regular floor walk-throughs and operational reviews, proactively surface issues before they interrupt production, and act as the two-way liaison between the facility and Corporate IT.
- Provide on-site end-user, plant, and application support through approved Service Center channels-desktops, laptops, mobile devices, printers, peripherals, operating systems, productivity and business applications, and network connectivity-documenting all activity within the IT ticketing system.
- Install, deploy, configure, troubleshoot, repair, replace, inventory, and maintain IT hardware. Perform routine asset audits and maintain visibility into assigned inventories, spare equipment, and lifecycle activities.
- Create and maintain site documentation, knowledge articles, standard operating procedures, floor-system troubleshooting notes, inventory records, and audit reports so information is accurate and available to support ongoing operations.
- Participate in technology projects, hardware refreshes, software implementations, site moves, infrastructure deployments, and testing activities as the on-site hands, ensuring support requirements are addressed before go-live.
- Other duties as assigned by the Service Center Manager.
ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS
- Perform routine technology walk-throughs and operational reviews to identify issues before they become service interruptions.
- Act as directed on-site hands and eyes for Infrastructure, Network, Cybersecurity, Business Systems, and Service Center teams during remote troubleshooting, planned maintenance, and deployments.
- Support troubleshooting of IT-supported manufacturing systems (label/print, scanning, RF handhelds, floor PCs, Manufacturing/Warehouse clients) by gathering information, validating functionality, and coordinating with support teams and vendors.
- Coordinate clean handoffs at the OT/IT boundary with Plant Maintenance and Plant Engineering when an issue moves between IT-supported and production/OT systems.
- Maintain visibility of critical spare IT equipment and assist with inventory accuracy, equipment staging, and asset lifecycle activities.
- Provide occasional support to nearby facilities as directed by IT Management.
- Participate in occasional after-hours remote support, IT planned maintenance, and critical business support efforts as required.
REQUIREMENTS
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education, technical certifications, professional training, and relevant work experience will be considered.
- Must be able to work various shift schedules. This position primarily operates during standard IT Service Center business hours but may occasionally provide after-hours remote support, participate in planned maintenance activities, and support critical business operations as directed by IT Management.
- Highly self-motivated and self-directed, with the ability to work independently as the on-site extension of remotely located IT teams.
- Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish trust and credibility with plant leadership and Maintenance personnel.
- Strong customer service orientation with a commitment to ownership and follow-through.
- Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non-technical personnel, take direction from remote specialists, and relay accurate technical detail back to them.
- Ability to communicate effectively with varying levels of management, customers, and team members in both written and verbal form.
- Aptitude for learning and troubleshooting IT-supported shop-floor and manufacturing systems, such as label and thermal printers, barcode scanners, handheld RF devices, plant-floor computers, Manufacturing/Warehouse client applications, and floor networking.
- Comfortable working on an active manufacturing plant floor and able to follow plant safety, food-safety/GMP, and personal protective equipment requirements.
- Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and execute tasks in a changing, production-driven environment.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications is required.
- Strong troubleshooting skills, sound judgment, and decision-making abilities.

- CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar industry certifications.
- Familiarity with SAP and related enterprise business systems.
- Familiarity with Manufacturing, Warehouse, or other IT-supported shop-floor manufacturing systems.
- Understanding of the OT/IT boundary in a manufacturing plant and experience coordinating with Maintenance, controls, or engineering teams.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, warehouse, or plant-operating environments.
- Experience supporting printers, barcode scanners, handheld RF devices, and plant-floor computing equipment.
- Familiarity with structured cabling and network patching performed under IT direction.
- Familiarity with macOS.
- Experience with IT asset management, inventory control, and lifecycle management processes.
