THE POSITION

As a Workers Compensation Judge for the Office of Adjudication, Wilkes-Barre Office, you will join a team dedicated to fair and careful resolution of workplace injury disputes. This role offers a chance to help people move forward by ensuring that complex cases are reviewed with clarity and patience. The Office of Adjudication supports you with guidance and resources that help you make confident decisions. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position focuses on resolving contested workers compensation claims by reviewing evidence, applying legal principles, and issuing clear decisions. As a Workers' Compensation Judge, you will perform the following duties:

  • Conduct Hearings: Manage in-person and virtual hearings that address disputed workers compensation issues
  • Review Evidence: Evaluate testimony, documents, and legal arguments to determine credibility
  • Issue Decisions: Draft findings of fact, conclusions of law, and orders based on case review
  • Perform Research: Use legal research tools to assess the validity of positions raised by parties
  • Guide Litigants: Explain procedures and rights to individuals who do not have legal representation
  • Manage Caseload: Organize high volumes of cases while maintaining timely and accurate outcomes

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
  • Hours may vary based on operational needs.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time after the successful completion of the required training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes-Barre. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Five years of Workers' Compensation practice before administrative agencies, or equivalent experience.

Special Requirement:

  • You must be an attorney in good standing before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
