Job Title: Optical Engineer III

Location: Redmond (Can work 5 days/wk in office or hybrid schedule, but must be in office at least every Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday)

Duration: 12 Months (possibility to extend dependent on performance & business needs)

Key Projects/Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

Summary:

  • In this role, you will collaborate with a team of scientists and engineers to predict and improve system-level performance of novel products and prototypes.
  • Using internally developed simulation tools-including an existing display emulation codebase in MATLAB-you will analyze results to directly enhance product and prototype performance while improving the codebase's maintainability, efficiency, and capabilities.



Job Responsibilities:

  • Code refactoring in IQToolbox.
  • Use simulation tools to model end-to-end performance of display systems
  • Report analysis of these simulations to establish specifications for these display systems and ensure a successful product
  • Collaborate with the larger research team to explore concepts and drive system performance to create compelling experiences



Must-Have Skills:

  1. Deep proficiency in MATLAB

    Signal and image processing knowledge,

    Experience with source control
  2. Strong software development skills
  3. Experience with Python



Nice-to-have Skills:

  1. Signal/Image processing
  2. Mathematical modeling and simulation
  3. Color science
  4. Knowledge of display technologies (LED, OLED, LCD, LCOS, DMD) or display pipeline architecture
  5. Familiarity with display metrology/calibration, image quality metrics, or human perception
  6. Prior Meta experience preferred but not required



Years of Experience: 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.

Degrees/Certifications Required: BS in Engineering, Physics, Optics, Computer Science, Color Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent
