Technical Lead(Senior Consultant, Engineering & Technical Services) At Fearless, we are seeking a Technical Lead as part of our Senior Consultant, Engineering & Technical Services career path to provide hands-on technical leadership for the development and evolution of modern, user-centered digital services that help State agencies access career, training, and workforce resources. You will guide technical direction and engineering practices, working closely with product, design, data, and engineering teams to translate program needs into secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions built on React, FastAPI, and AWS. This role requires a strong technical foundation and the ability to balance hands-on engineering with technical leadership, collaboration, and delivery - leading architectural and implementation decisions, mentoring engineers, establishing development and testing standards, and ensuring quality throughout the software delivery lifecycle. This is a fully remote role. This Senior Consultant collaborates with cross functional teams to align the technical vision, implementation, and quality of software systems across development, reliability, testing, and operations. This role will possess the skills to be able to bridge business objectives with technical execution in software development, infrastructure, security, and testing at an advanced application level of proficiency. The Sr. Consultant role will work on projects that allow them to ensure scalable, secure, and reliable solutions while mentoring engineers, fostering collaboration, and aligning stakeholders with product and project goals. Fearless Your Responsibilities in this Role: * Provide hands-on technical leadership and guide architecture, design, and implementation decisions across the application. * Lead the development and evolution of scalable frontend applications and backend services using modern JavaScript/TypeScript and Python technologies. * Design and guide the implementation of APIs, microservices, and integrations with external systems and services. * Guide data architecture and persistence across relational, NoSQL, and caching technologies. * Lead the design and deployment of secure, scalable cloud-native solutions within AWS. * Establish and promote engineering standards for code quality, automated testing, security, maintainability, and performance. * Guide infrastructure-as-code and CI/CD practices that support reliable, repeatable deployments across environments. * Mentor engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing. * Partner with product, design, data, and other stakeholders to translate business and user needs into effective technical solutions. * Identify technical risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs and communicate recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Work Experience Project Skill and Experience Requirements: * 6+ years of professional software engineering experience developing enterprise-scale applications. * Experience serving as a Technical Lead, Lead Engineer, Solution Architect, or similar engineering leadership role. * Strong hands-on experience developing modern web applications using React, Next.js, JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, and Node.js. * Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservices, including experience with frameworks such as FastAPI and Express. * Strong experience with relational and NoSQL data stores, including PostgreSQL and DynamoDB. * Extensive experience designing and delivering cloud-native solutions within AWS, including serverless and containerized architectures. * Experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform, CloudFormation, or comparable technologies. * Experience designing and maintaining automated CI/CD pipelines. * Strong understanding of automated testing practices across frontend and backend applications. * Demonstrated ability to provide technical direction, mentor engineers, conduct code and architecture reviews, and establish engineering best practices. Preferred Experience * Experience with AWS services such as Lambda, ECS Fargate, S3, RDS, API Gateway, and CloudFront. * Experience with Redis or similar caching technologies. * Familiarity with generative AI and search technologies, including AWS Bedrock and OpenSearch. * Experience with headless content management systems such as Contentful. * Experience implementing authentication and identity solutions such as Auth0. * Familiarity with frontend performance and accessibility auditing tools. * Drupal experience is a plus.
