POSITION SUMMARYA Painter is responsible for applying primer & textured coatings to a variety of metal parts, ranging from small metal pieces to heavy steel frames, using a spray gun inside an oversized, properly ventilated spray booth. After the painting and curing processes are completed, the finished parts are transported to the Assembly Department for the final build process.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* Ability to operate a forklift, overhead crane, tools, and use of chemicals.* Perform all essential functions of a "Paint preparer."* Set up paint system and spray primer for both press brake and automation parts.* Ability to walk, bend, push, pull and lift repetitively during working hours.* Knowledge of paints, thinners, cleaning agents, and other materials utilized in cleaning, painting, and finishing of parts related equipment.* Knowledge of proper storage and disposal methods.* Knowledge of safety practices associated with tools and work practices utilized to perform the primary duties.* Knowledge of the methods of preparing different surfaces for painting; includes bare surfaces as well as previously painted surfaces.* Ability to perform maintenance on equipment as required for primary duties.* Ability to operate air compressors, high pressure air guns, sanders, painting equipment. and hand tools needed to perform primary duties with minimal direction from supervisor.* May be required to climb using safety harness, forklift cage, or ladder up to 16'.* May be required to work beyond normal business hours when necessary.* Ability to stand for extended periods of time.* Ability to reach overhead and above the shoulders.* Dexterity of hands and fingers for hand cleaning equipment and tools.NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:* Demonstrate commitment to an injury-free environment by actively participating in company safety programs.* Capable of performing all essential functions of a "Paint Preparer."* Comply with all aspects of the corporate environmental, health and safety program.REPORTING RELATIONSHIP:* Paint Supervisor* Paint Manager* General ManagerSUBORDINATE STAFF:* NoneSKILLS:* Knowledge in using hand and air tools.* Must be willing to work in a team environment.* Excellent communication and organizational skills are a must.* Must be self-motivated and high engaged with all required job duties.* Ability to identify and work without direct supervision.* Understand and follow both oral and written directions.* Must prepare reports of work performed by logging daily work into a computer.* Must demonstrate knowledge in the methods, procedures, equipment, and tools of the trade as they relate to the department.* Maintain routine records by accurately logging in real time.* Must understand how to prepare a variety of surfaces for prepping, painting and finish work.* ISO 9001 experience is considered a plus.MENTAL ABILITIES:1. Ability to work harmoniously with others.2. Ability to accept and follow instruction.3. Ability to maintain positive attitude.WORKING CONDITIONS:LIFTING: Up to 50 pounds unassisted Frequency: Daily
