This is a hybrid role, with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of our Nor Cal, Phoenix office or Boston office.

The National Small Business portfolio manages legacy clients from across the SVB ecosystem, while also supporting, onboarding and nurturing our Seed Stage clients. NSB supports the largest team codes and has the most diverse client base within the organization.

The NSB Associate I role is an entry-level function responsible for assisting with portfolio management, client onboarding, tracking portfolio regulatory issues and supporting cross-sell opportunities. This role supports the VP and/or Director/Managing Director and involves collaborating with cross-functional SVB teams, with the goal of orchestrating a superior client experience and maximizing support of client relationships.


Responsibilities & Qualifications

Duties & Responsibilities:

SVB Platform & Relationship Management:

  • Support MDs, Directors, and VPs in the delivery of the overall client experience. This includes assisting with client onboarding, cash management products, and coordinating internal communications for quick response to client inquiries.
  • Build a strong foundational understanding of SVB Startup Banking products and services, along with the broader SVB Platform.
  • With guidance from the VP, analyze and manage internal and external data sources to identify top clients, prospects, and potential cross-sell opportunities, predict fundraising needs, and extract industry trends.
  • Engage with clients for due diligence, and regulatory and information completeness requests. Review with senior team members.

Portfolio Management & Client Service:

  • Facilitate new client onboarding journey though client service.
  • Support client engagement and outreach.
  • Participate and support local events to build their own brand as a trusted source and represent the organization in-market.
  • Help increase customer satisfaction (NPS) across the portfolio.

Client & Market Engagement

  • Entry-level understanding of market dynamics. Start developing a network of peers, both internally and externally, within the tech ecosystem.
  • Assist with the expansion of existing relationships with a variety of levels of influencers at the client. As appropriate, this includes (but is not limited to) building relationships with client teams and working with relevant client team members as we expand our working relationship.
  • May attend industry events for further education about the markets and clients we serve.
  • Work independently and with Sales Operations to identify new prospects and opportunities within the assigned market.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree with 1 year of client facing experience with a financial services institution or High School diploma/GED with 2 years of experience

Preferred:

  • Strong interest in the tech startup ecosystem
  • Exhibit strong organizational and time management skills including excellent attention to detail and verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Stay hyper-focused on the overall client experience with ability to take ownership of and drive processes but also recognize when to escalate or engage others.
  • Use critical thinking skills to support VPs, Directors and MDs when executing recommendations and actions related to pipeline and portfolio management.
  • Strong writing and communication skills are essential.
  • Demonstrate a self-aware approach to engaging with the team, showing respect, follow-up ability and curiosity to A self-driven desire to seek bank-provided tools and build relationships internally and externally will help the individual succeed.

Additional Information

If hired in SF the base pay for this position is relative to your experience but the range is generally $75,000 - $99,000 per year. This position is eligible for variable compensation, which may be in the form of incentive or bonus pay, in addition to a competitive and comprehensive benefits program.

If hired in Boston, the base pay for this position is relative to your experience but the range is generally $71,000 - $95,000 per year. This position is eligible for variable compensation, which may be in the form of incentive or bonus pay, in addition to a competitive and comprehensive benefits program.
