POLICY ANALYST

Starting Salary: BX16, $ 78,768

Under general direction, conduct research and analysis of community outreach strategies and

intergovernmental engagement opportunities to support policy initiatives targeting specific populations

served by city departments. Provides strategic insights on communications and policy matters impacting

these groups. Oversee the development and execution of communications strategies, including public

information materials and outreach efforts in collaboration with Alderpersons and their staff, to advance city

programs and services. Performs other related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

* Works with department staff to advance legislation agenda through departmental and City Council

processes.

* Facilitates intergovernmental coordination to streamline decision-making processes.

* Coordinates meetings, conferences, and other events related to intergovernmental affairs.

* Builds and maintains relationships with other government agencies and organizations to support

* strategic goals and initiatives.

* Monitors legislation and regulations impacting government policies and objectives.

* Provides advice to government officials on intergovernmental issues and policy implications.

* Prepares and delivers presentations on government policies and initiatives to various audiences.

* Conducts research and provides analysis on legislative and policy issues, particularly in the context of

* community engagement and intergovernmental outreach affecting targeted populations.

* Assists in the development and implementation of policies and outreach strategies in collaboration

* with aldermanic offices to advance city department initiatives.

* Drafts policy briefs, reports, and other public information materials, ensuring they are clear,

* informative, and accessible to a broad audience.

* Clearly communicates the policies and goals of the government to stakeholders and policymakers.

* Ensures that communication between government agencies and other stakeholders is clear and

* effective.

Additional duties may be required for this position

Location: City Hall, 10th Floor

Days: Monday - Friday

Hours: 9:00am - 5:00pm

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in communications,

Political Science, Political or Government Relations, Public Administration, the Social Sciences or a directly

related field, PLUS three years of work experience in community outreach and development,

government relations, and writing for programs and services, or an equivalent combination of

education, training and experience provided that the minimum degree requirement is met.
