2027 Program Information

Duquesne Light Company offers summer internships that provide a hands-on, meaningful employment opportunity in a supportive setting that cultivates learning and collaboration. Duquesne Light's internship program will provide you with a valuable experience and a solid start to your career in various disciplines.

• Internships are full-time (40 hours/week), paid, and run for 12 weeks (May-August).
• Internships are located in Pittsburgh and follow DLH's Hybrid Work Model (described below).
• Candidates must be full-time, degree-seeking students enrolled in an accredited college or university and have completed their Sophomore year of studies.
• Candidates must be in good academic standing.
• Candidates must be willing to work the required schedule as defined in the job description.
• Demonstrated leadership ability through studies, employment or extracurricularactivities.
• Aptitude for problem solving; strong communication skills.

Overall Purpose

The intern for the Project Management Office (PMO) would focus on developing and improving project management tools and templates to support consistent project planning and reporting across PMO projects. The intern may also be assigned to assist a Project Manager with a capital project under development or in execution. This assignment will include office work and field visits to examine site conditions, define scope of work and execution plan, and build relationships with the project team.

Education/Experience

Applicants must be currently enrolled in a BS or MS program in Project Management, Construction Management, Information Technology, Business Administration / Management, or Engineering.

Skills/Abilities

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office products. Ability to work independently as well as in a team-oriented environment.

Hybrid Work

All internships follow our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Interns must be in the immediate Pittsburgh area for the summer. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
