Divisional Chief of Pathology - Woodhull Medical Center

NYU Grossman School of Medicine, in affiliation with NYC Health + Hospitals/Woodhull Medical Center, is seeking an accomplished physician leader to serve as Divisional Chief of Pathology at Woodhull Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The Divisional Chief will provide clinical, operational, administrative, and academic leadership for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Working collaboratively with hospital leadership, clinical departments, laboratory staff, and NYU Grossman School of Medicine colleagues, the Divisional Chief will oversee pathology and laboratory services while maintaining an active clinical practice.

Position Highlights

• Lead the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Woodhull Medical Center.
• Provide oversight of anatomic and clinical pathology services, including laboratory operations, quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
• Maintain active clinical pathology practice.
• Partner with hospital administration, medical staff, and affiliated departments to support patient care, departmental operations, and strategic priorities.
• Supervise, mentor, and support pathology faculty, laboratory personnel, and administrative staff.
• Promote a culture of professionalism, collaboration, patient safety, and continuous improvement.
• Participate in academic, educational, and training initiatives in collaboration with NYU Grossman School of Medicine.
• Represent the department in medical staff leadership activities, hospital committees, and institutional meetings, as appropriate.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership and direction for the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.
• Ensure the delivery of high-quality, timely, and patient-centered anatomic and clinical pathology services.
• Oversee compliance with applicable hospital policies, accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and NYC Health + Hospitals and NYU Langone Health guidelines.
• Lead quality assurance, performance improvement, and patient safety initiatives within the department.
• Ensure accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation, reporting, and communication of pathology results.
• Support workforce planning, staff development, performance management, and departmental operations.
• Collaborate with clinical and operational leaders to address service needs and advance institutional goals.
• Support and advance educational programming for trainees, students, and staff, as applicable.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Board Certification in Anatomic Pathology, Clinical Pathology, or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
• Eligibility for medical licensure in the State of New York.
• New York State Certificate of Qualification, or eligibility to obtain one, as applicable.
• Demonstrated leadership experience in pathology and laboratory medicine, preferably in an academic medical center or large health system.
• Strong clinical, administrative, organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
• A demonstrated commitment to quality, patient safety, professionalism, and collaborative practice.

We offer a competitive compensation package, including:

* Annual Base Salary: $400,000-$450,000

* 403B/457 Participation with a 10% employer contribution (no employee match required)

* Annual Continuing Medical Education (CME) Reimbursement: $4,5000 inclusive of one week of paid CME time

* Projected Annual Revenue Sharing payments of up to $30,000 contingent upon meeting productivity and compliance metrics
