Job Overview

UC HR is searching for a Compensation Analyst 2 to support the university's compensation strategy by administering and analyzing compensation programs that promote talent acquisition, retention, employee engagement, and pay equity. This role will assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of compensation structures, job architecture frameworks, and salary administration practices that support organizational objectives and workforce planning.

Essential Functions
  • Administer and support compensation programs, including base pay, salary structures, incentive programs, and other compensation initiatives.
  • Conduct market pricing analyses and salary benchmarking; participate in compensation surveys and maintain survey submissions and analyses.
  • Analyze compensation data and recommend salary offers, promotional increases, equity adjustments, classifications, salary grades, and other compensation actions based on market data and internal equity considerations.
  • Conduct position audits and job evaluations using established job evaluation methodologies and compensation practices.
  • Analyze job content and organizational structures to determine appropriate classifications and salary grades.
  • Develop, review, revise, and maintain job descriptions to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with organizational standards and job architecture.
  • Partner with managers and human resources professionals to document essential duties, qualifications, position requirements, and current organizational needs.
  • Advise managers and human resources stakeholders on compensation policies, pay practices, salary recommendations, and job classification matters.
  • Communicate compensation guidelines, salary structures, and related information; assist in developing reports, presentations, and recommendations.
  • Research compensation trends, labor market conditions, and emerging practices to support compensation planning and program improvements.
  • Assist with pay equity analyses and support initiatives that promote equitable compensation practices.
  • Ensure compensation activities comply with university policies, applicable requirements, and budgetary guidelines.
  • Prepare compensation reports, analyses, and workforce metrics for leadership review.
  • Participate in compensation projects, process improvement initiatives, and human resources operational activities as assigned.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need. This job description can be changed at any time.
Required Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Seven (7) years of relevant education, experience and/or other specialized training can fulfill minimum education and experience requirements.
Required Experience
  • Three (3) years of professional experience in compensation, classification, human resources, finance, workforce analytics, or a related field, including experience conducting data analysis or compensation-related work
Additional Qualifications Considered
  • Knowledge of compensation principles, salary administration, job evaluation methodologies, market pricing, salary surveys, and data analysis techniques.
  • Experience conducting pay equity studies or supporting compensation program design, experience with compensation survey and market-pricing systems.
  • Advanced experience in Microsoft Excel and human resources information systems.
  • Experience in higher education, healthcare, or other complex organization.
Physical Requirements/Work Environment
  • Office environment/no specific unusual physical or environmental demands.
