Apply for this Job Posting Details Job ID: 186603 Rank: Assistant Professor College/School: Chicago, IL - College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Position Description: The Anthropology Department at DePaul University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in cultural anthropology to begin September 1, 2027. We seek a cultural anthropologist doing theoretically informed, community-engaged research. Geographical area is open but should complement the current department faculty coverage. Topical areas of focus may include but are not limited to environmental anthropology; political ecology; climate change; sustainability; the anthropocene; or critical Indigenous studies. Applicants should offer evidence of ethnographically grounded research, clear plans for future scholarship, and demonstrated excellence in teaching. We are especially interested in candidates who have a capacity for mentoring students with diverse research interests and are eager to collaborate across a wide set of area studies programs on campus. The Department of Anthropology ofers an undergraduate major, which provides a broad foundation in four-field anthropology, along with two minors. We also participate in three additional interdisciplinary minor programs in our college. DePaul operates on the quarter system, with tenure-line faculty teaching six courses per academic year. Teaching responsibilities will include courses that contribute to the department programs and to the university's First Year and Liberal Studies Programs. About DePaul University's Academic Calendar Except for the College of Law, DePaul University operates on a quarter system. Classes in Autumn, Winter, and Spring quarters are 11 weeks in length (including finals week) and Summer courses, in two sessions, are typically 5 weeks in length. The College of Law operates on the semester system. Classes in the Fall and Spring semesters are 16 weeks in length (including finals week) and it offers a Summer Session of 7 weeks (including final exams).
