POSITION SUMMARY:

The Water Systems Specialist supports Dominium's water conservation efforts by maintaining the functionality and reliability of water monitoring systems and supporting the timely resolution of identified leaks. This position performs preventive maintenance; troubleshoots meters, routers, and related equipment; completes scheduled battery and equipment replacements; and investigates and addresses water leaks across assigned properties.

The Water Systems Specialist partners with property teams, Corporate Maintenance, regional maintenance leadership, and outside vendors to support water system readiness, complete repairs, and ensure outstanding water system needs are addressed through resolution.

This is a remote, regionally based and site-based position that is not assigned to a Dominium corporate or regional office. The position requires regular travel to Dominium properties and is expected to perform work at property sites on most workdays, with administrative responsibilities completed remotely when not in the field.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  1. Inspects, tests, and troubleshoots non-working or unreliable water meters, routers, communication devices, and related water-monitoring equipment to maintain system functionality and support reliable leak detection.
  2. Performs scheduled preventive maintenance, including systematic battery replacement, equipment testing, and other maintenance activities designed to maximize system functionality and equipment life.
  3. Repairs or replaces non-functioning or unreliable equipment and completes the associated registration, testing, and documentation.
  4. Reviews water-monitoring system alerts, reports, usage data, and work requests to identify equipment issues, potential leaks, abnormal water conditions, and situations requiring field investigation.
  5. Investigates and addresses water leaks using reporting data, established maintenance procedures, and appropriate tools, completing repairs within the scope of the position.
  6. Escalates repairs requiring specialized plumbing expertise, vendor assistance, or additional property maintenance support and communicates outstanding needs to the Water Systems Coordinator.
  7. Verifies that repaired or replaced equipment is communicating and functioning properly following service and confirms the completion and effectiveness of assigned leak-related work.
  8. Documents equipment inspections, battery changes, troubleshooting activities, repairs, replacements, identified leaks, completed work, outcomes, and required follow-up.
  9. Communicates with property teams regarding scheduled unit access, water system maintenance, identified leaks, repairs, and outstanding service needs.
  10. Maintains assigned tools, equipment, supplies, and replacement inventory in accordance with established procedures.
  11. Provides training to property staff and Corporate Maintenance team members, including Regional Maintenance Managers and Regional Maintenance Specialists, regarding Dominium's water systems, established maintenance procedures, leak-identification and response expectations, and appropriate system troubleshooting.
  12. Escalates complex, recurring, or unresolved technical issues to the Lead Water Systems Specialist and/or Water Systems Coordinator.
  13. Travels to assigned properties to complete preventive maintenance, priority system repairs, leak-response work, equipment replacements, and other assigned water-system activities.
  14. Performs other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Training and Experience.)



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical or vocational training in plumbing, building maintenance, facilities maintenance, or a related trade preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in multifamily property maintenance, plumbing, facilities maintenance, building systems, or a related technical field.
  • Basic working knowledge of plumbing systems and common residential plumbing repairs required.
  • Multifamily property maintenance experience preferred.
  • Experience identifying and repairing water leaks preferred.
  • Experience troubleshooting water meters, submeters, leak-detection systems, routers, gateways, sensors, or other connected building equipment preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment and complete hands-on repairs.
  • Ability to safely and effectively use hand and power tools appropriate to assigned maintenance and repair work.
  • Ability to use mobile devices, Microsoft Outlook and Teams, work-order systems, ION, property-management systems, and other applicable technology.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, system alerts, equipment instructions, and maintenance procedures.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, problem-solving, and follow-through.
  • Ability to work independently in the field, manage assigned priorities, and follow work through completion.
  • Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and vehicle insurance required.
  • Ability to travel regularly between assigned properties and up to 50% overnight or out of state.
