Telework Schedule:
This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement based on successful performance, conduct, completion of required training, and operational needs.
- After 90 days: Eligibility for up to one (1) remote workday per week.
- After six months: Consideration may be given for up to two (2) remote workdays per week, contingent upon successful completion of designated training and demonstrated satisfactory performance and conduct.

| Primary Purpose of Department |
The Human Resources Department's Employee Relations (ER) Unit supports a positive, productive, and fair work environment by providing comprehensive services to employees, managers, and supervisors.
The office administers key programs and policies related to discipline, performance management, grievances, unemployment insurance,
ADA workplace accommodations, and the prevention of unlawful workplace harassment, discrimination, or retaliation, as well as workplace violence.
Our team offers counseling and guidance to employees who have workplace concerns, complaints, or grievances. We also provide consultative support to managers and supervisors, assisting with performance expectations, documentation, feedback, and the development and issuance of appropriate communications, including those related to disciplinary actions. |
| Primary Purpose of Position |
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a key Employee Relations Consultant for the university, managing and facilitating the day-to-day functions, ensuring compliance, consistency, and a supportive process. The ER Consultant's role is dedicated to core employee relations responsibilities, including coaching and advising managers on performance and disciplinary matters up to and including termination; conducting investigations and grievance processes; facilitating conflict resolution between employees and/or managers; and proactively identifying opportunities to strengthen employee relations practices, procedures, and overall workplace culture.
Additional responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, tracking and managing cases through the Salesforce Case Management and Ticketing system; assigning and responding to cases received through the Employee Relations and
ADA email inboxes; writing investigation summaries and reports; answering phone calls and performing administrative tasks; and generating reports to support team operations and data-driven decision-making. |
| Summary of Position Responsibilities |
This position serves as the primary point of contact for employees and department leaders (supervisors and managers) regarding employee relations matters. Key responsibilities include intake and resolution of employee complaints, administering disciplinary procedures, and reviewing and editing documentation such as written warnings, Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), and related communications. |
| Minimum Education/Experience |
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, psychology, organizational development, or a related field, and
- At least two years of progressively responsible experience analyzing, interpreting, applying, communicating, and promoting HR best practices in support of organizational goals and objectives; or
- An equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and experience.

| Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience |
- Four or more years of direct employee relations experience handling disciplinary matters, conducting investigations, and mediating workplace conflicts between employee-to-employee or employee-to-supervisor/manager.
- Experience documenting case activities and managing cases in a case management system (e.g., Salesforce, ServiceNow, Remedy, or SAP).
- Demonstrated ability to manage an average caseload of approximately 15 employee relations cases simultaneously.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and verbally, with diverse audiences,
