About the Role:

Synergy Business Innovation & Solutions, Inc. is seeking a highly qualified Microservices Application Developer to support the United States Coast Guard (USCG). This role will design, develop, and maintain cloud-native applications leveraging a micro frontend and microservices architecture within an AWS IL2 environment across the full software development lifecycle. The successful candidate will collaborate within a cross-functional Agile team and directly with clients to transform business requirements into secure, scalable, and maintainable solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain cloud-native applications utilizing micro frontend and microservices architectures.
  • Integrate with and enhance independently deployable frontend applications using Angular, TypeScript, and modern web development practices.[FL1.1][SB1.2]
  • Build and maintain Node.js-based microservices, RESTful APIs, and backend services supporting enterprise applications.
  • Design and implement frontend integration patterns to enable seamless communication and user experiences across multiple micro frontend applications.
  • Design, implement, and support solutions within AWS IL2 cloud environments utilizing cloud-native services and best practices.
  • Contribute to technical design decisions, architecture discussions, and solution planning activities for distributed systems.
  • Gather, clarify, communicate, and document requirements directly from clients, stakeholders, and functional teams.
  • Write clean, testable, and well-documented code while participating in peer code reviews and development best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application defects, integration issues, security findings, and performance concerns across development, test, and production environments.
  • Develop and maintain automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing solutions.
  • Support CI/CD processes and deployment automation for frontend and backend applications.
  • Contribute to Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, estimation, backlog refinement, and delivery activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Professional experience developing backend Node.js server applications. frontend applications using Angular.
  • Strong proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript (ES6+), HTML5, and CSS.
  • Experience developing applications using micro frontend architecture patterns.
  • Node.js development experience with a solid understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful API design principles.
  • Experience designing, developing, and consuming REST APIs in enterprise environments.
  • Experience with AWS cloud services and deploying applications within secure cloud environments.
  • Experience using an ORM for database access; TypeORM preferred.
  • Proficiency with SQL and relational database design; PostgreSQL preferred.
  • Experience writing and maintaining unit and integration tests using established testing frameworks such as Jest, Jasmine/Karma, or Mocha.
  • Proficiency with Git and familiarity with Jira, Jenkins, Bitbucket, GitLab, or equivalent tools.
  • Working knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies and Agile development practices.
  • Experience implementing secure coding practices and addressing application vulnerabilities.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools and effective prompting techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience implementing micro frontend frameworks and patterns such as Module Federation, Single-SPA, or equivalent technologies.
  • Experience deploying and supporting applications within AWS IL2, GovCloud, or other federal cloud environments.
  • Containerization and orchestration experience using Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, or Amazon ECS/EKS.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Experience implementing event-driven architectures and messaging services such as Amazon SQS, SNS, or EventBridge.
  • Experience remediating CVEs and security findings across frontend and microservices-based applications.
  • Experience designing highly available, scalable, and fault-tolerant cloud-native solutions.
  • Familiarity with application monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana, or Prometheus.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities, LLMs, or intelligent automation features into enterprise applications.

Education Requirements:

  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field.

Citizenship & Clearance Requirements:

  • Required: US Citizen w/ Public Trust or ability to achieve Public Trust Required

Target Salary Range

Compensation for roles at Synergy is determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the requirements of the role; level of experience; education and certifications; the individual's combination of knowledge, skills, and abilities; as well as alignment with market data, federal and state laws, and other business and contract considerations. The estimated pay range for this position is: $125,000.00 - $145,000.00. The disclosed range has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case and represent just one component of Synergy's total compensation package for employees.
