Summary: The HCS Mgr - Payroll position is responsible for planning, directing, and managing the work of the payroll center of expertise, including but not limited to payroll administration and processing. The position is accountable for accurate and timely payments to employees, accurate and timely processing of employee reimbursements, timely and accurate deposits of payroll taxes and liabilities, timely and proper filings of payroll tax returns, and proper distribution of payroll transactions to appropriate accounts in the general ledger. The position ensures compliance with regulatory requirements including, but not limited to, applicable federal, state, and local tax regulations. The position assists with the design and implementation of payroll policies and processes, internal control compliance and oversight, and review and management of payroll systems. The HCS Mgr - Payroll position will be located in the Triangle. Some travel between System locations will be required. Responsibilities: 1. Payroll Administration - Provides direction and leadership to ensure the efficient operations of the Payroll function for the health system. Analyzes, interprets and sets up parameters of the HR payroll system in order to update and maintain all required data for the processing of payroll, and the production of required payroll and fringe benefit reports. 2. Other information: Education Requirements: * Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or business-related discipline or equivalent combination of education and experience. Licensure/Certification Requirements: * No licensure or certification required. Professional Experience Requirements: * With a Bachelor's degree, seven (7) years of experience in a progressive payroll function with knowledge of financial systems and regulatory compliance. * With an Associate's Degree, eleven (11) years of experience in a progressive payroll function with knowledge of financial systems and regulatory compliance. * With a high school diploma, fifteen (15) years of experience in a progressive payroll function with knowledge of financial systems and regulatory compliance. Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements: * Comprehensive knowledge of payroll systems, principles, procedures, and regulations.
