The Exyte Tool Install Design Manager's function is to make sure that all design activities within the project fulfill project standards. They supervise and manage all design activities within the project including scope, budget and schedule. The Tool Install Design Manager reports to the Project Manager.

Explore your tasks and responsibilities
  • Ensures the overall project design and production process is conducted following the prescribed company processes and procedures and is in accordance with the stipulated project budget and schedule (including planning, monitoring, and reporting).
  • Works with or leads a team of engineers and/or designers to create and document designs fulfilling the project design scope consistent with industry-accepted practice as well as client-preferred standards, with minimal supervision.
  • Coordinates the work of the design leads and design team that are producing tool install construction documents
  • Ensures the team meets the schedule requirements while also working with the schedule team to level the client schedule.
  • Responsible for ensuring the team is performing the contracted scope of work, working with the design leads to create and process all needed change orders
  • Works with the Project Controls team to review budgets
  • Reports project status to the client and project manager
  • Serve as the main point of contact for the client design manager, facilitating weekly status meetings, and enabling communication as needed.
  • Coordinates and leads continuous improvement efforts
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Required

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required
  • 8+ years of experience showing increasing responsibility leading teams
  • 2+ years in Tool Install
  • Experience in leading teams and workgroups, small to medium projects

Preferred

  • Equivalent experience in lieu of minimum educational requirement accepted
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification preferred
  • Prior experience with advanced technology
  • Prior experience in consulting engineering
  • Experience working within a team environment
  • Experience contributing to continuous improvement processes
  • Experience leading a team to a successful outcome

Skills & Knowledge

  • Detailed understating of Lean execution principles for design of projects
  • Good time management skills, strong work ethic and attention to details
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a strong team player with an ability to build effective working relationships with individuals, department leads, and client representatives
  • Ability to train team on lean principles needed to design and manage project
  • Energetic and self-motivated
  • Ability to mentor and train junior staff
  • Ability build and maintain positive and productive working relationships both internal and external
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to resolve conflict and solve problems while leading by example
  • Proficient in Excel, Teams, Outlook
  • Basic understanding of AutoCad, Bluebeam, and Power BI a plus
