Position Summary

Meitheal Pharmaceuticals is an emerging biopharmaceutical company building a differentiated portfolio of biosimilars, insulin franchises, and specialty biologics for the U.S. market. We are at an inflection point, transitioning from early commercialization to scaled market access operations, and this role will be central to that growth.

The Senior Director, National Accounts will be responsible for securing and expanding access for Meitheal's current commercial products and a growing pipeline of biosimilars, insulins, specialty biologics, and branded therapeutics across all relevant customer verticals. This individual will own the payer/PBM account relationships required to ensure Meitheal's products reach patients, regardless of whether access is gated by a formulary committee, a medical policy, a contract, or a purchasing decision.

This is not a maintenance role. It is a build-and-scale opportunity. The successful candidate will play a critical role in designing and executing Meitheal's market access strategy, establishing the processes, partnerships, contracting frameworks, and operating playbooks that will support the company's growth for years to come.

Success in this role will require both strategic leadership and an established industry network. The successful candidate will possess deep, current relationships with executive decision-makers across payer, PBM, and other key healthcare stakeholder organizations. We are seeking a professional whose reputation, industry standing, and credibility enable rapid engagement of decisionmakers and acceleration of commercial and market access objectives.

Candidates should be able to demonstrate a track record of building market access capabilities, translating strategic relationships into tangible business results, and driving growth in complex healthcare environments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following

Access Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute account-specific strategies to secure optimal access for Meitheal's marketed biosimilars, insulin products, specialty biologics, and branded therapeutics across both the medical benefit and pharmacy benefit.
  • Lead access planning for pipeline products, engaging accounts early in the product lifecycle to shape coverage architecture, contracting terms, and reimbursement pathways ahead of launch.
  • Navigate the full spectrum of access mechanisms: formulary placement (including commercial, Part D formulary positioning for insulin and pharmacy-dispensed products), medical policy coverage, buy & bill economics, specialty pharmacy distribution, prior authorization and step therapy protocols, and contract-based preferred positioning.
  • Develop and execute payer strategies specific to the insulin/diabetes franchise, including Part D Senior Savings Model dynamics, IRA implications, and competitive positioning against established insulin manufacturers.

Contracting & Negotiation

  • Negotiate and execute contracts that balance access breadth with margin protection across the portfolio.
  • Own the commercial terms (rebates, discounts, performance-based agreements, and administrative fees) for assigned accounts.
  • Develop contracting strategies for pipeline assets, including biologics and specialty products beyond the current biosimilar and insulin portfolio.
  • Manage gross-to-net implications and protect pricing integrity (including ASP for physician-administered products and WAC/net pricing for pharmacy-dispensed insulins).

Building the Function

  • Play a foundational role in building Meitheal's market access operations, contributing to the development of processes, tools, analytics capabilities, contracting infrastructure, and account management frameworks.
  • Partner with leadership to define the long-term market access organizational structure as the specialty portfolio scales.
  • Identify capability gaps and recommend investments in systems, data, and talent to support growth.
  • Serve as an internal subject matter expert on payer/account dynamics, reimbursement policy, and competitive access intelligence.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner with Commercial, Medical Affairs, Legal, Finance, Regulatory, and Trade/Distribution to align account strategy with corporate objectives.
  • Provide market access input into pricing decisions, launch sequencing, and portfolio prioritization.
  • Deliver competitive intelligence on account-level dynamics (formulary changes, contract shifts, policy updates, and emerging access barriers) that inform enterprise-level decision-making.

External Representation

  • Serve as a senior Meitheal representative in all account interactions, maintaining executive-level relationships with key decision-makers.
  • Represent Meitheal at relevant industry forums and conferences.
  • Provide strategic counsel to Meitheal leadership on the evolving access landscape and its implications for commercial strategy.

Position Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Required

  • Demonstrated, current executive-level relationships with key decision-makers across multiple customer segments; this is the most critical qualification for success in the role.
  • Proven track record of negotiating contracts that resulted in measurable access gains and revenue impact.
  • Direct experience with biologic, biosimilar, insulin and/or branded therapeutic products.
  • Experience operating in emerging or high-growth company environments where building infrastructure is as important as executing against it.
  • Comfort with ambiguity, resourcefulness, and the ability to operate without a large support structure.

Strongly Preferred

  • Experience with insulin market access, including Part D formulary dynamics, the $35 cap environment, and competitive positioning.
  • Experience launching products into competitive multi-source biologic, biosimilar, and branded therapeutic markets.
  • Understanding of both medical benefit (Part B / buy & bill) and pharmacy benefit (Part D / PBM-managed) access dynamics.
  • Experience with specialty product access, including limited distribution, specialty pharmacy networks, and hub/patient services integration.
  • Familiarity with 340B program dynamics and their contracting implications.
  • Understanding of IRA/Inflation Reduction Act implications for manufacturer contracting obligations (Medicare Redesign, manufacturer discount program, negotiated pricing).
  • Prior experience at a company that scaled its commercial infrastructure (vs. inheriting a mature organization).

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA, PharmD, or advanced degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in pharmaceutical/biotechnology market access or national account management.

Travel

  • Requires the ability and willingness to travel extensively (up to 50% of the time) across the U.S. for customer meetings, internal business gatherings, seminars, and conferences.
  • Field-based role, so remote working is required.

Computer Skills

  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Microsoft Outlook and Teams.
