DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position performs skilled electrical work on a wide range of systems, devices, and equipment across the hospital campus. It ensures that essential electrical operations remain safe, dependable, and fully functional. As an Electrician 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Electrical Installation: Install conduits, wiring, fittings, fixtures, motors, controls, and related equipment for campus systems
  • System Maintenance: Perform testing, repairs, and preventive checks on generators, motors, and electrical devices
  • Safety Compliance: Work on energized systems while following strict safety rules, precautions, and approved procedures
  • Troubleshooting Work: Diagnose electrical failures using drawings, schematics, and specialized testing tools
  • Technical Calculations: Perform accurate voltage drop calculations, load assessments, and determine proper circuit protection and wiring
  • Equipment Operation: Use advanced meters, probes, and diagnostic tools to assess electrical conditions

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Electrician Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of experience installing, repairing, and maintaining electrical systems, components, and equipment; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
