OVERVIEW

Build your civil engineering experience with Merrick & Company as a paid Summer 2027 Civil Infrastructure Engineer Intern in our Charlotte, North Carolina office. This internship is a great opportunity for a college or graduate-level Civil Engineering student to contribute to meaningful infrastructure projects while learning alongside experienced engineers.

Merrick's summer internship program offers meaningful, hands-on experience for students. Designed as a shorter-term, exploratory experience, internships allow students to apply what they're learning in school while gaining exposure to real projects, professional collaboration, and day-to-day life at an employee-owned company.

The summer internship has a commitment of approximately mid-May through mid-August 2027.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

As a Civil Infrastructure Engineer Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting real-world civil engineering projects that help shape communities. You'll be introduced to a variety of project work, including storm drainage, site development, roadway design, and utility design, while building practical technical skills in a collaborative professional environment.

You'll collaborate with engineers and other disciplines, connect with clients and contractors, and contribute to project work that balances schedules, budgets, and quality expectations. This role is ideal for someone who is curious, dependable, eager to learn, and ready to strengthen their communication, problem-solving, and independent work skills in a fast-paced engineering setting.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have graduation date after August 2027 to be eligible.
  • Must be pursuing an engineering degree in Civil Engineering from an A.B.E.T. accredited program.
  • Must be currently enrolled and entering junior year or higher of undergraduate degree or currently enrolled in grad school.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without Sponsorship.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Knowledge of AutoCAD Civil3D.
