Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing for McLane teammates, as well as resolving problems in order to facilitate timely disbursements and accurate distribution of accounts.

What you'll do as a Payroll Supervisor:

  • Direct payroll staff to provide accurate and timely payroll processing and resolution of payroll issues.
  • Maintain functional procedures and establish/monitor high standards of performance for each activity.
  • Design and direct implementation of system, and process improvements to promote efficiencies in department and field locations.
  • Perform all system processes with Workday to control processing, reporting and scheduling within the systems while utilizing the system effectively.
  • Make decisions regarding enforcement and interpretation of policies and procedures as they relate to payroll.
  • Act as a liaison or point person with the Human Resources and other Business Units, in handling special transactions.
  • Research questions from planning, operations, accounting, and the field related to payroll expense in the general ledger.
  • Evaluate the payroll department coordinators individual performance and aid them in maximizing their full potential while maintaining high standards.
  • Manage the short-term disability payments to all Teammates.
  • Establish and monitor executive compensation including but not limited to, deferred compensation and car allowance.
  • Perform other tasks or special projects as necessary.

Qualifications you'll bring as a Payroll Supervisor:

  • Have a 18 months PeopleSoft experience with release 8.9 or newer.
  • Have Five or more years of payroll and accounting experience including Two or more years supervisory experience.
  • High level of customer service orientation, excellent planning, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Be able to project self-confidence in dealing with others.
  • Be an adaptable individual who can implement change effectively.
  • Have working knowledge of federal and state wage and hour regulations.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be able to motivate, trains, and provides ongoing coaching for the team.
  • This position requires the ability to read, write, and understand English at a level sufficient to perform job-related tasks effectively and safely. This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. The requirement is directly related to the nature of the job and ensures compliance with workplace safety and operational standards.
