Responsibilities

Here's what might happen on a typical day...

This role combines technical pharmacy skills with exceptional customer service skills filling all medications and documenting this process accurately. Your knowledge of all necessary pharmacy compliance standards is vital to this position.

You also serve as an advocate for our patients who have been identified as needing financial assistance for their medications. Your organization skills allow you to easily track a patient through the process, and your communication skills help you to work well with your coworkers and keep all necessary people informed of your processes.

Experiences that matter...

  • You have experience with processing, filling, and dispensing medications according to the proper schedule class and understand the importance of prioritizing medications based on patient needs.
  • In conversations with patients, coworkers and other professionals, you provide exceptional customer service through communicating respectfully and thoroughly listening to all shared details.
  • You will use your organization skills to properly log and date inventory, maintain proper control documents, and ensure drug supplies are in adequate supply making sure to notify the pharmacy manager of any discrepancies
  • Experience with patient assistance and being able to advocate for our patients in need of financial assistance puts you a step ahead of other pharmacy technicians.
  • The ability to distinguish between information that can be provided according to state law and information that should be referred to another staff member is a major asset to you.
  • Your go-getter work ethic will have you ready to jump in and help out with any additional tasks.

Qualifications

For your safety, keep this in mind:

  • This position will require standing and walking for extended periods of time.
  • Any lifting should be limited to 40 pounds or less.
  • You will need manual dexterity, proper hand-eye coordination, full range of motion to possibly assist with lifting patients, and corrected vision and hearing to normal range.

We feel this position requires these basics:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required along with a Certified Pharmacy Technician certification and/or State Pharmacy Board licensure. (Tack on an IV certification for bonus points!)
  • You will have at least one year of Pharmacy Technician experience preferably with oncology medications.
