Primary Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Participate in worship and Christian education programs such as Sunday School, Bible studies, Corps Cadets, small groups, etc. This would include planning, leading meetings, preaching, teaching, and supporting others in those roles.
  • Participate in and coordinate, as assigned, the development of Corps programming, worship arts, music programs, special programming (VBS, Day Camps, Outreaches), Character Building, and leadership training for Corps members.
  • Represent The Salvation Army at community events, including, but not limited to, service clubs, committee participation, school functions, and Ministerial Associations.
  • Participate in and develop community center, social services, and Corps programs.
  • Participate in assigned coordination of seasonal programs, including Christmas (Kettle Campaign, Angel Tree, Toy Town), Summer camping programs, and other special events.
  • Participate in pastoral and evangelistic ministries such as the Pastoral Care Council, Corps Council, and Youth and Adult Planning Committees.
  • Property upkeep and facility preparation for programming.
  • Participate in the Corps' financial goals by observing the budget and supporting fundraising efforts.
  • Provided transportation for corps programming and divisional events.



Basic Function and Position:

The Ministry Discovery Program Intern will experience the holistic ministry and mission of The Salvation Army. This will require adjusting duties and responsibilities as Corps programming and needs change with season, training emphasis, and local service priorities. The intent is to give a well-rounded experience and exposure to Salvation Army programming and leadership.

Relationships:

Work with other staff, public, clients, program participants, parents, community leaders, volunteers, community service workers, outside groups, corps members, and community residents.

Education/Experience:

Must be a Christina with the intent of entering ministry, this individual must be of good character and maturity. Three to four years of college or three to four years in full-time non-Salvation Army ministry preferred. Must have a valid driver's license. Flexibility in work hours and job responsibilities is a must.
