Thermal Aerodynamicist, New Programs

Develop fluid dynamics for powertrain thermal management and HVAC systems in a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment. Apply expertise across high-level system layout, performance scoping, and detailed aerodynamics including flow distribution, impellers, blades, noise reduction, filtration, water management, and heat exchangers. Value analytical skills and creativity to solve open-ended problems using fundamental aerodynamic principles, while driving novel designs from concept through validation and supporting manufacturing feasibility.

• Develop fluid dynamics aspects of powertrain thermal management and HVAC systems
• Perform high-level system layout, performance scoping, and detailed aerodynamic analysis
• Apply fundamental principles to solve open-ended problems in flow behavior and component design
• Identify opportunities to improve performance of existing thermal and HVAC systems
• Drive novel designs through concept, surfacing, analysis, optimization, and validation
• Support mechanical designers in determining manufacturing feasibility and production requirements
• Evaluate designs at system level using appropriate metrics for decision making

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent experience
• 2 years of experience in fluid dynamics or evidence of exceptional ability
• Strong understanding of turbulent and laminar flows, attached and separated flows, and vortex dynamics
• Strong understanding of the strengths, weaknesses, and limitations of aerodynamic development tools
• Excellent engineering fundamentals with ability to use hand calculations for quick decisions and result validation
• Ability to evaluate designs at a system level and select or develop metrics for decision making
