| Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The Office of Emergency Management and Planning is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining disaster planning and preparedness for the University performed within the five mission areas of emergency management (prevention, protection, mitigation, response, and recovery) to provide for the safety and well-being of all university stakeholders. This includes comprehensive planning, training, and exercise programs aimed to enhance the university's ability to manage large-scale and/or multi-agency incidents or events that affect the
UNC campus. |
| Position Summary |
The Continuity and Resiliency Specialist will support the Office of Emergency Management and Planning in the development and implementation of the Mission Continuity Program. Working closely with the Continuity and Resiliency Planner, this position will assist with developing training materials, resources, and guidance to support departments and units in developing and maintaining effective Mission Continuity Plans.
The position will also engage with internal stakeholders to facilitate the plan development process, coordinate meetings and follow-ups, track plan progress, and provide program support. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
High school diploma or equivalency and one year of related office experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. |
| Management Preferences |
* Experience supporting emergency management, preparedness, public safety, public health, or related programs within a university or public-sector setting
* Working knowledge of emergency management concepts, including planning, training, or coordination activities
* Experience assisting with emergency plans, exercises, or training documentation
* Demonstrated ability to maintain contact lists, training records, or compliance data
*
FEMA coursework or related education in emergency management or public administration |
| Special Physical/Mental Requirements |
This position requires the ability to function effectively in high stress, emergency situations. Physical demands may include prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, the ability to access emergency operations centers or other designated emergency coordination facilities on campus.
* Occasional lifting/pushing/pulling/moving objects up to 20 lbs. Duties to be performed with or without reasonable accommodation. |
