Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Adams School of Dentistry Office of Clinical Operations is responsible for overseeing patient care, providing quality assurance, maintaining infection control, administering regulatory compliance and preserving fiscal stability. The Office of Clinical Operations is an integral part of the School and their primary mission is to provide the highest quality education and training to students and to provide the highest quality dental treatment available for patients.
Position Summary
The Dispensary Technician is responsible for utilizing good customer service techniques while providing materials to students, staff, and faculty at the Student Clinic Dispensaries within the Adams School of Dentistry. They are responsible for utilizing inventory tracking software and barcode systems to manage all stages of the inventory process for all materials within the dispensaries. The dispensary technicians will be responsible for managing inventory, utilizing reporting, and communicating with members of their team about any inventory concerns they may have. It is vital that the dispensary technicians are flexible and willing to work as a team to create solutions for every opportunity that is encountered at the Student Clinic Dispensaries. The Dispensary Technician will provide occasional cross-coverage in other Clinical Operations areas.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
High school diploma or equivalency.
Management Preferences
1. Demonstrated customer service skills, including the ability to identify and respond to customer needs, provide accurate information and assistance, and establish positive working relationships with faculty, staff, students, community members, vendors, and other customers.
2. Strong oral communication skills, with the ability to respond effectively to routine inquiries, recognize non-routine questions or concerns, and identify the appropriate resource for additional assistance or resolution.
3. Experience performing administrative and records-management functions, including maintaining and verifying files, records, inventory, or other program-related information and ensuring information is complete and accurate.
4. Ability to perform basic mathematical and transactional functions, including calculations, cash or payment-related activities, inventory or merchandise transactions, and reconciliation or verification of related records.
5. Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage recurring processes, compile and organize information from multiple sources, identify errors or process issues, prepare reports or data, and serve as a resource to others.
Required Licenses/Certifications
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Must be able to maneuver supply carts weighing up to 200lbs. Must be able to lift/move up to 35lbs. Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time.
