Position Summary:

The Gift Officer is responsible for cultivating, engaging, soliciting, and managing a portfolio of approximately 450-500 annual donors who contribute less than $1,000 annually. Through a relationship-centered fundraising approach, this role seeks to increase donor retention, deepen donor engagement, and grow annual giving levels while identifying individuals with the capacity and inclination to advance into a major gift pipeline.

Day in the life: In a typical day, the Gift Officer...



  • Donor Relationship Management & Engagement: Builds and maintains meaningful relationships with assigned donors through personalized and strategic engagement activities designed to increase donor satisfaction, retention, and giving levels.
  • Donor Portfolio Management: Executes a structured Moves Management process, moving donors through the engagement cycle from identification and qualification to solicitation and stewardship.
  • Donor Stewardship & Impact Communication: Ensures donors feel informed, appreciated, and connected to the organization's mission through consistent, meaningful stewardship experiences.
  • Donor Research & Prospect Development: Supports organizational fundraising efforts by conducting donor and prospect research to identify giving capacity, philanthropic interests, and engagement opportunities.



Job Pay & Perks:



  • Pay range: $39.25 - $47.98 hourly
  • This is a flexible-hybrid role whose essential functions allow the employee to primarily work from a personal home office but also require the employee to work at a physical GESMN or partner facility as business needs require, sometimes with great urgency and little notice.

    About You:

    Required Knowledge & Skills:



    • Strong written and verbal communication skills that demonstrate clarity, accuracy, timeliness, confidence, and engagement.
    • Comfortable initiating conversations with donors by phone and in-person.
    • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships and partnerships with empathy, curiosity, and authenticity.
    • Effective organizational and time management skills that exhibit attention to detail and intentional prioritization.
    • Strong initiative and drive shown through accountability, ownership of responsibilities, high energy and persistence.
    • Technical proficiency; experience in donor databases, CRM platforms and research tools.
    • Aptitude for adapting and adjusting priorities and strategies in response to changing organizational needs.


    Prior Experience & Education:



    • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in fundraising, sales, customer relationship management, business development, account management, customer service, or a related relationship-focused role.
    • Bachelors degree or professional certification (CFRE) preferred.
