Location:MD - Columbia - 5450 Knoll North Drive

Floating based on staffing needs. Floating to Columbia and Ellicott City and Elkridge

Duration: 3 Months

Schedule: 6:30am-6:00PM varies M-F


Required Vaccinations

MMR, Hep B (Candidate can decline Hep B), TB, color vision is required.


Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Float Phlebotomist II to join their team in Columbia, MD This is a float position offering the opportunity to transition to a permanent role based on performance. The ideal candidate will have experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced laboratory or hospital environment while maintaining exceptional patient care and specimen integrity.

We are looking for at least two years of Phlebotomy experience. Their main duties are drawing blood and processing. They will be floating so they must have a reliable vehicle, a valid drivers license, and a good driving record (MVR). They must be able to draw on all age groups including pediatrics.

Key responsibilities include:

* Performing venipuncture and specimen collection

* Processing and preparing specimens for testing

* Managing and coordinating specimen drop-offs for the client

* Providing excellent patient service while maintaining quality and compliance standards

We are seeking candidates with at least two years of phlebotomy experience, as this role requires working independently as the sole phlebotomist at the site.

Required Qualifications



  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum 6 months of recent phlebotomy experience in a hospital or high-volume laboratory setting.
  • Overall 2-4 years of healthcare/phlebotomy experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in venipuncture using straight and butterfly needles.
  • Experience processing and handling laboratory specimens.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills.
  • Strong communication and patient care skills.
  • Valid Phlebotomy Certification if required by state regulations.


  • How many draws are required daily? Depending on site, busiest site is 40 patients drawn
  • What is the work environment? (Patient service center, doctor's office) PSC's and IOP's
  • If this is a patient service center, how big is the location? Medim sized
  • How long is the worker expected to stand? Most of their shift - given a lunch break
  • Are there any specialties? (Pediatric, geriatric) Pediatrics to geriatrics
  • Will this person work with a team or alone? Alone at some sites, with teams at other sites


How many weeks of training are required at the start of this role? Training and orientation is the first two weeks.
