Master Electrician - Facilities Support Services

Location: Fort Meade, MD

Position Summary

LAUKOA is seeking a qualified Master Electrician to support facilities operations at Fort Meade, Maryland. This position performs advanced preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repair, installation, testing, and modification of electrical systems and associated equipment in Government-owned facilities. The selected candidate will support safe and reliable facility operations while ensuring electrical systems are maintained in accordance with contract requirements, applicable codes, manufacturer recommendations, and established safety procedures.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities



  • Perform advanced preventive maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of commercial electrical systems.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical distribution systems, lighting systems, branch circuits, panels, breakers, transformers, motors, controls, and associated electrical equipment.
  • Install, maintain, and replace electrical wiring, conduit, fixtures, switches, receptacles, and related components.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits using appropriate diagnostic and testing equipment.
  • Ensure electrical work is performed in accordance with applicable codes, safety requirements, and contract standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, schematics, specifications, and technical manuals.
  • Provide recommendations, scopes of work, bills of materials, and status updates for identified deficiencies, corrective maintenance, and project work.
  • Respond to service calls and complete assigned work orders in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of completed work, labor, materials, equipment status, and test results.
  • Receive, update, and close out electrical-related work orders in the CMMS.
  • Coordinate with other maintenance personnel, subcontractors, and Government representatives to support facility operations and maintenance activities.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and trade-specific equipment safely.
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas while complying with all environmental, safety, security, and contract requirements.


Minimum Qualifications



  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Possess a current Master Electrician license recognized by the State of Maryland or a reciprocal jurisdiction acceptable to the State.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience performing commercial or institutional electrical maintenance and repair.
  • Experience maintaining electrical systems in commercial, industrial, institutional, or Government facilities.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical distribution systems, lighting systems, controls, panels, breakers, motors, and related electrical equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Experience using a CMMS, work order system, or similar tracking system preferred.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Advanced working knowledge of commercial electrical systems, electrical distribution, lighting systems, and related equipment.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, and applicable electrical safety practices.
  • Ability to diagnose complex electrical system malfunctions and perform effective repairs.
  • Ability to safely troubleshoot, test, and repair electrical equipment and components.
  • Ability to support preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and facility operations across multiple electrical system types.
  • Basic computer skills sufficient to receive work assignments, update CMMS records, enter data, and complete required documentation.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary facilities support team.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and support to other maintenance personnel as needed.


Security Requirements



  • Must possess and maintain an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) security clearance.


Physical Requirements



  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull tools, materials, parts, and equipment consistent with the duties of the position.
  • Ability to climb ladders, work from elevated platforms, kneel, bend, crawl, and work in confined or restricted spaces.
  • Ability to distinguish colors for identifying electrical wiring and components.
  • Ability to work in electrical rooms, mechanical rooms, equipment areas, and occupied Government facilities.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely perform physically demanding electrical maintenance and repair activities for extended periods.


Wage Rate



  • Between $70.00 - $87.00 per hour
  • An additional $5.09 per hour up to 40 hrs per week for H&W per WD 2015-4265
