Division Chief of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery

The faculty position will span both the University setting (primarily USC Arcadia Hospital and its satellites) as well as our committed role to serving the underserved population in East Los Angeles through our affiliation with Los Angeles General Medical Center (formerly known as LAC+USC).

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is seeking a Division Chief of Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery who is a fellowship trained, board certified academic urogynecologist at the level of associate or professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This position is ideally suited to a mid-career faculty member.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who has demonstrated clinical excellence and whose primary responsibility will be the expansion of clinical services. This physician leader must also have a dedication for teaching and training future gynecologists and urogynecologists as part of our fellowship program. Responsibilities will include the outpatient and surgical care of complex patients with pelvic floor disorders and applicants should have experience in the evaluation and management of pelvic organ prolapse, urinary incontinence, urogenital fistulae, mesh complications, pelvic pain syndromes, obstructed defecation, and fecal incontinence.

Qualifications:

• MD degree with completion of a 4-year ACGME accredited Ob.Gyn residency.
• Board Certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Must have completed a 3-year accredited fellowship in Urogynecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery and Board certified in URPS (or have a planned exam date for her/his URPS board exams).
• Leadership & Scholarship- Demonstrated experience in leadership, teaching, and research; strong publication record and funding history
• The successful candidate is expected to apply for a CA medical license and be licensed to practice medicine in California by the time of appointment.

Responsibilities:

Division Chief Duties:

• Clinical Leadership: Oversee high-quality, patient-centered care in urogynecology, including complex pelvic reconstructive surgeries, pelvic floor dysfunction management, and multidisciplinary care; Engage in efforts to further develop the Keck Urogynecology practice, including outreach and expansion of clinical services.
• Education & Training: Mentor and supervise residents, fellows, and students; ensure excellence in medical education and clinical training programs

• Research & Scholarship: The research responsibilities of this position include traditional scholarship that is required for an academic promotion, including conducting and assisting in research projects, and mentoring trainees; Develop and lead high-impact research initiatives that inform clinical practice; secure research funding and publish in peer-reviewed journals
• Program Development: Expand and strengthen the division's clinical, educational, and research programs; align with departmental and institutional strategic goals

• Collaboration: Partner with departmental and institutional leaders to set priorities, allocate resources, and foster a positive, inclusive team

Clinical responsibilities:

• Scope: Balances clinical practice (70%-80% of time) with protected academic time for teaching and research, and administrative time for Division Chief duties.

• Outpatient practice in urogynecology, office-based procedures including but not limited to intradetrusor botox injections, posterior nerve stimulation, and sacral nerve stimulation.
• Requisite surgical skills include extensive experience with vaginal and laparoscopic (and/or robotic assisted) repair of prolapse, scope of anti-incontinence procedures, urethral diverticula, urogenital fistulae, vaginal cysts/lesions, revision/removal of pelvic mesh.
• Candidate must demonstrate cultural competence and the ability to work with the underserved to promote our mission of caring for vulnerable women with pelvic floor disorders.
• Candidate must have experience with and demonstrate aptitude for teaching as this position involves the direct supervision and education of medical students, residents, and fellows.

The position offers a salary with excellent university benefits and an academic appointment at the Keck School of Medicine of USC commensurate with the level of training and experience.

The annual base salary for this position is $400,000-425,000. Additionally, the chosen candidate will receive a signing bonus of $35,000 and relocation costs reimbursed up to $15,000.
