The full salary range for this position is $92,394 to $169,670.88/year.

Brief Summary of Job Duties:

The Endpoint Infrastructure Engineer is an integral member of the College IT (CIT) and Psychological and Brain Science (PBS) departments, in service to PBS, and other CIT supported groups. Provides technical expertise and a high-level of service for Endpoint, Active Directory and network support. Responsible for deployment and upkeep of various Windows and cloud-based services in coordination with the Manager of Desktop Services. Plans, implements, tests, secures and maintains services used by staff, faculty and students across multiple departments and organizations. Serves as an escalation point for complex problems relating to desktop support and endpoint infrastructure. Trains user support staff on various topics pertaining to projects and matters of expertise.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in related area or equivalent experience/training
  • 1-3 years Experience with proactive defense, incident response and analysis
  • 1-3 years Experience with planning for deployment and creation of feedback mechanisms
  • 1-3 years In-depth experience with network diagnostic and performance management tools and software

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Broad and advanced IT skill set and knowledge.
  • Ability to plan, execute and maintain projects of medium complexity and scale.
  • Ability to identify opportunities to leverage technology to drive research and instructional success.
  • Ability to analyze and solve moderately complex issues with computing devices, servers and systems in an academic and research setting.
  • Demonstrated comprehensive understanding of how system management actions affect other systems, system users and dependent / related functions. Ability to write documentation in a clear and concise manner for both technical and non-technical readers.
  • Advanced knowledge of computer security tools and demonstrated skills at developing and administering complex security controls and configurations in a heterogeneous environment.
  • Demonstrated skills associated with adapting equipment and technology to serve user needs.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and editing complex scripts used to perform system maintenance and administration.
  • Thorough and broad knowledge and experience working with wireless network management systems, specifically Ubiquiti Unifi software and access points. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory, including best practices, security, and maintenance.
  • Familiarity and experience with MDM services and modern endpoint device management techniques.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to collaborate with colleagues of various technical abilities.
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.
  • Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Self-motivated and possess the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Able to learn effectively and meet deadlines.
  • Accomplishes tasks in a detail oriented and thorough manner, ensures the core issue is solved and follows up as appropriate.

Job Functions and Percentages of Time:

  • 25% Endpoint Device Management - Designs, develops and supports critical endpoint infrastructure, including but not limited to Windows OS, MacOS, iOS, SCCM, JAMF, mobile device management, antivirus, file sharing, databases, license management, advanced scientific applications, and cloud based services. Maintains experience with and expertise in scientific software programs and workflows, particularly those by Psychology and Brain Science researchers. Analyzes environment and designs, implements and supports services and tools to meet faculty, staff and scientific computing needs. Maintains a high level of understanding of industry practices. Evaluates and tests new systems and services. Develops moderately complex software and scripts to accomplish tasks and streamline workflows. Performs regular security audits and verifies compliance with requirements and policies.
  • 25% Active Directory Administration - Develops and maintains Active Directory identity infrastructure with oversight from Manager of Desktop Services. Ensures health and integrity of domains and critical supporting Operating Systems, services and computers. Coordinates necessary updates to maintain high levels of functionality and security. Implements and develops tools, extensions and scripts to enhance the Active Directory service for LSCG staff and supported users. Performs regular security audits and verifies compliance with requirements and policies.
  • 25% Storage Engineer & Network Support - Defines, designs, and implements storage solutions based on users' needs. Configures and deploys data storage infrastructure and helps to manage user access to various shared resources. May perform networking tasks to interconnect servers or components of clusters to storage infrastructure. Creates usage reports and identifies areas which need improvement.
  • 15% Tier III Desktop Support - Serves as a point of escalation for desktop support technicians. Provides high level support for Windows desktop OS. Develops scripts and programs to assist in desktop support workflows. Coordinates with Helpdesk Manager and User Support Manager to investigate processes, techniques and tools to bolster desktop support operations. Facilitates research needs in Psychology and other supported departments.
  • 10% Training and Mentorship - Assists in training and development of desktop support staff. Develops and maintains internal training materials and public documentation and webpages pertaining to Desktop, Mobile, Server, Active Directory, Wireless, and other areas. Holds regular training briefings for all desktop support staff pertaining to existing and new services.
