JMT's Survey department offers an exciting work environment that leverages modern technology (terrestrial/mobile/aerial LiDAR, Drones, robotics, bathymetry, etc.) balanced with sound traditional survey procedures to deliver projects related to surveying, mapping and Subsurface Utility Engineering.



Position Summary: Responsible for the overall completion of the data processing phase of specific field survey/SUE projects.



Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.



Essential Functions and Responsibilities



  • Knowledge of surveying and or reality capture
  • Experience with Open Roads Designer and/or Carlson Survey
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong work ethic
  • Develop base mapping (field to Finish Processing) through conventional survey, Utility plans and/or LiDAR
  • Analyzes raw data and identify problems



Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities



  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Required Skills

  • Must successfully complete and pass JMT's Motor Vehicle screening
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Able to pass Background Check

Required Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Extensive knowledge in field surveying techniques, including data collection, traverse adjustments, GPS surveys, and construction stakeouts or SUE plan development.
  • Familiarity with third party software for data reduction and drafting, including Microstation, AutoCAD, StarNET, & Trimble Business Center



Preferred Experience



  • Open roads Designer or Carlson Survey Experience
  • Knowledge of network adjustments (StarNET)
  • Experience with point cloud processing and extraction
  • Familiarity with Subsurface Utility Designation and/or Test Holes



Working Conditions


Work is performed within a general office environment 85% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.


Field work is required 15% of the time, where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.


Some travel may be required.


Some night shift work may be required.
