Accounting Officer - Corporate Accounting

SUMMARY:

The Accounting Officer will support the Company's external financial reporting processes, including SEC filings, investor relations materials, and financial disclosure preparation. This role will report to the VP, Manager of Financial Reporting and gain exposure to public company reporting, U.S. GAAP, SEC regulations, and investor communications. The position will also work closely with other teams within the Corporate Accounting department and perform various general accounting responsibilities, including preparation of monthly journal entries, account reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance and support.

This position is designed to develop future SEC reporting and general accounting expertise while providing support during critical month-end close and quarterly reporting cycles.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist in the preparation and filing of Forms 10-Q, 10-K, 8-K, and other SEC filings.

Perform detailed tie-outs of financial statements, footnotes, and earnings releases.

Coordinate draft reviews of SEC filings, including consolidating comments from internal stakeholders, auditors, legal counsel and management.

Assist with review and validation of earnings releases and investor presentations.

Verify financial data and key metrics within external communications.

Collaborate with various stakeholders across the bank to support reporting and disclosure processes.

Conduct peer benchmark analyses, disclosure research and quality reviews of reporting documents to support accuracy and consistency.

Support process improvement and automation initiatives.

Adhere to processes and controls related to external financial reporting and SEC disclosures.

Assist with general accounting responsibilities such as preparation and posting of journal entries and monthly account reconciliations.

Assist with internal and external auditor requests, as required.

Develop and maintain department process documentation.

Complete projects and other financial analysis assigned by the Corporate Accounting department.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Banking is a highly regulated industry and you will be expected to acquire and maintain a proficiency in the Bank's policies and procedures, and adhere to all laws, rules and regulations that are applicable to your conduct and the work you will be performing. You will also be expected to complete all assigned compliance training in a timely manner.

Strong attention to detail.

Strong technology skills, including demonstrated aptitude for learning new systems, leveraging technology to improve efficiency, and identifying opportunities to automate manual processes.

Ability to maintain strong working relationships with internal business partners.

Demonstrated proficiency in basic computer applications such as Microsoft Office and ability to learn various applications.

Ability to learn various Banking Software programs.

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is required.

Minimum of 1 year of accounting, financial reporting, or financial audit experience preferred.
